About this listen

The one woman he wants is the one he cannot have.

Former foster kid Sebastian Grant has leveraged his intelligence and hard work to become a pediatric heart surgeon. But not even his career success can erase the void he’s tried so hard to fill. Then he meets high school teacher Leah Montgomery, and his fast-spinning world comes to a sudden stop. He falls hard, only to make a devastating discovery - Leah is the woman his best friend set his heart on months before.

Leah’s a math prodigy who’s only ever had one big dream - to earn her PhD. Raising her little brother put that dream on hold. Now that her brother will soon be college-bound, she’s not going to let anything stand in her way. Especially romance...which is far less dependable than algebra.

When Leah receives surprising results from the DNA test she submitted to a genealogy site, she solicits Sebastian’s help. Together, they comb through hospital records to uncover the secrets of her history. The more powerfully they’re drawn to each other, the more strongly Sebastian must resist, and the more Leah must admit that some things in life - like love - can’t be explained with numbers.

Powerful Christian Romance

Great story. Love this series but this book had a terrible reader. She might be good in a light comedy but really tanked on this book. Didn’t even try to differentiate the voices of the characters. Really a shame.

Story great but narrator is hard to listen to.

She takes unnecessary breaks too often in her reading. The first book had a much better narrator style.

I love a good love story

This is very good. It has different turns that you don’t see coming. The only thing that I would’ve recommend to the author is the voice is not right for the reading.

I wanted a more likable leading lady

This was my 5th book by Becky Wade - and my least favorite. At first I thought it was just the reader … she wasn’t bad in general, but her voice totally didn’t fit this book. She’d be excellent for like a Jane Austen novel. So I thought the voice was making the main character unlikeable. But several hours in, I realized she just isn’t a very likable character. And I also felt like the mystery element in this book didn’t keep me dying to figure out what happened, Becky’s books usually have me gobbling up the mystery. That said, I did gasp out loud at the twist! About 3/4 of the way through I found myself checking the time to see how much I had left, hoping to be almost done. Which is not usually my reaction to this author at all. BUT, I’m still super excited to finish the series!

Amazing story!

Wow! Becky Wade has so much talent. I’m really impressed with her writing. I also really liked the narrator. You won’t be disappointed with this book. There are so many layers and themes to it. Loved it.

History Creates Bonds of Love

I liked the development of character through dialogue and portrayal of interaction between major and minor characters. I particularly liked the author’s viewpoint on how God interacts with us within the endless “freedom of will” that human’s have. Ultimately demonstrating that “freedom of will” bestows personal responsibility for the choices we each make.

God is always with us!

I really enjoyed the story line and characters. The voice of Leia was slightly annoying at times. A little too sweet but liked the character.
