Publisher's summary

Dr. Liz’s Life Launch: Surviving the Storms of Physical and Sexual Abuse is a number one Amazon international best seller in social issues - suicide, sexuality and pregnancy and the number one Amazon US best seller in inspirational & personal growth; social issues - violence.

Have you or a friend or loved one struggled with loss, abuse, addiction, low self-esteem, or even suicidal ideas? Then this book will ring true for you. This personal memoir chronicles the first 25 years of her life living in abusive environments, how she survived and, ultimately, found her way into the supportive and caring arms of 12-step recovery programs.

Along the way, she describes for the listener exactly how she survived the traumas of physical and sexual abuse, mental illness, suicidal ideas, grief and loss as well as her struggles with sexual identity, bulimia, addiction, and more.

In her "how-to" memoir, she offers her listener:

  • Reflections on prayer, meditation, and life lessons
  • Self-help resources
  • Her daily regimen
  • Links to therapies, books, programs, individuals, and specific products to help you not only survive but thrive beyond the wildest storms of your life!

This is the first book in a two-book series. The second book in the series will reveal the struggles Dr. Liz overcame during the second half of her life: the suicide of her husband, the death of her father, and being engaged, at one time, to a man who later became the Butcher of Brooklyn, to becoming a proud mom of her own teenager, a successful medical professional and college professor, and an international best-selling author.

An extraordinary story!

Life Launch: Surviving the Storms of Physical and Sexual Abuse is a memoir by Dr. Liz. The story deals with abuse, addiction, losses, and the aftermath of these experiences. After reading the book, I thought that it would be best to listen to the audiobook and I was right. For me non-fiction, most especially memoirs, are best appreciated when you listen to them because you feel more connected with the story and the storyteller.

In listening to it, I found the first and second voices monotonous, but it turned out that I wasn’t listening to the main narrator of the story yet, and when I did, I instantly enjoyed listening to her voice. She has very good voice quality - her cadence, pacing, tone, inflection, and enunciation were perfect.

I’m giving this audiobook 5 out of 5 stars. The main narrator did an awesome job in relaying an extraordinary story of a survivor. It is inspiring how a person has overcome not just one trauma, but several critical ones.
