About this listen

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends With Us held listeners spellbound with her novel Hopeless, the story of what happened when a troubled girl named Sky encountered a long-lost childhood friend, Dean. Now, in Losing Hope, we finally learn the truth about Dean Holder.

Haunted by the little girl he couldn’t save from imminent danger, Holder’s life has been overshadowed by feelings of guilt and remorse. He has never stopped searching for her, believing that finding her would bring him the peace he needs to move on. However, Holder could not have anticipated that he would be faced with even greater pain the moment they reconnected.

In Losing Hope, Holder reveals the way in which the events of Sky’s youth affected him and his family, leading him to seek his own redemption in the act of saving her. But it is only in loving Sky that he can finally begin to heal himself.

Sensitive Subject Matter, Relatable Story

Where does Losing Hope rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Tops. Hoover creates full, rich, well developed characters that keeps one listening just to learn more about them. The subject matter of childhood sexual abuse is handled delicately without losing honesty. This novel should be on the reading list for support groups.

I liked Hopeless better, but, I really liked seeing things from Holder's point of view!

UTTERLY AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL

I can't spoil this for anyone but it is heartbreaking and beautiful and funny and lovely and amazing. I laughed I cried I hurt and after reading hopeless I was so excited to begin this book and it was so worth it. I highly recommend this book, Buy It Now and you will not regret it. It is so wonderful. I have added author to my "just buy it' list because Maybe someday and Maybe not are one of my top ten series as is this series now. I cannot find the words for how deeply in love I am with Dean Holder and how he loves. He loves his sister, his family, his friends... And Sky/Hope. Wow. What a love and honor it was to "know' their love with this book. now, onto the novella Finding Cinderella... Excited!!!!

So good

This was a great additions to the books. One of the best pov from the other perspective. Highly recommended it added so much more tot he story and love how it ended. Only negative I have is the narrator should had a huskier/stronger voice as I pictured Holder’s.

Perfect!

This is Hopeless from Holders POV. It is not a continuation of what happens after hopeless. Although there is more information given as to what happened after Hopeless that was nice. But I knew that it was Holder’s POV before reading it. And I loved hearing his thoughts and the story from his perspective. Maybe some bad reviews did not know this was the intention, not sure, but my opinion is that it filled in a lot of gaps and background. I thought it was a beautiful accompaniment to Sky’s story. Loved it! Really liked the narrator. He did a good job and his female voices were believable and weren’t cringy like some narrators can be. Highly recommend if you want to hear Holders side of the story.

LOVED IT!

I truly do love getting Dean’s side of the story. It didn’t feel like it was repeating what I had already read from skies point of view it gave me a whole different perspective on the story. I truly enjoyed this and I gave it five stars because it as well earned.

GREAT listen!!

In the beginning, I liked "Hopeless" better, maybe because I read it first. By the end of the book, "Finding Hope," won me over! Hearing Holder's perspective was heartbreaking, passionate, loving and tender. Fantastic story! I'm sad to leave Holder and Sky!
