About this listen

An earl with a terrifying secret....

Alexander Cole was a man ruled by his voracious appetite for carnal pleasures until a golden-haired devil in the guise of a goddess lures him into an encounter that costs him his humanity. With nothing left but bitterness in his heart, he locks himself away in his dilapidated Elizabethan mansion and chains the gates to all intruders.

A lady hoping to prove love conquers all....

When her aunt suffers an injury in a carriage accident, Evelyn Bromwell rushes through the forest in search of help. Drawn to the mysterious old mansion, she is left aghast to find such a frosty reception. Yet despite the earl's rude and brusque manner, Evelyn is eager to discover the reason behind his austere façade.

Once desire begins to burn, Alexander and Evelyn are unable to deny the soul-deep connection that exists between them. But Evelyn must make a choice - marry the kind and affable Mr. Sutherby or risk everything in the hope of thawing an immortal's frozen heart.

I enjoyed how well this story was written. The prose flow smoothly making
me smile at how beautiful the love story is. Alexander and Evelyn have a rough beginning which leads I to a deep love story. Often funny, sometimes frightening but never boring. Highly recommend. Very much enjoyed the audible narrative.

A different take on the mortal girl and the vampire.

Ms. Clee is such a wonderful storyteller! Each time I read a new book of hers I swear it is better than the last one. This story starts a new series and it sets up a world where life can sometimes be very dark. But in this story, love does prevail. Alexander and Evelyn's bond help them to navigate through this darkness. I loved the characters in this novel and cannot wait to learn more about them in the following books.

Kylie Stewart's voice lends itself magically to Ms. Clee's characters. She lends just the right amount of emotion to each personality to bring the story to life. I look forward to listening to the rest of this wonderful series.

A BEAUTIFULLY DARK LOVE STORY!

This book had my full attention. I adored Alexander & Evelyn. Their love was so sweet. My favorite part tho is when Emit, used his mind power on Evenlyns con artist betrothed on a hunt for fairies brainwashing him to believe he had only a week to find a hundred. After him & Alexander rescued Eve again from the sick jerk. That made me laugh out loud. I enjoyed Emits sense of humor. How he was able to get Alex to smile. I’m glad Alex finally found others like him. Now he’s part of The Brotherhood. I recommend this book to those who like The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. It’s worth every minute spent.

4 Stars well deserved!

I can admit I was a bit skeptic about this story but only until the first chapter then, I just couldn’t put it down. Narrator did a good job with making each character believable and full of life. I am excited to move to the next book in the series. Happy reading!

But then, I loved it!

I was taken by surprise by the vampire angle. I must have missed that in the book's description. Not much to the story other than the wooing. It isn't the best I've read, but not the worst either. The love scenes were tame and unimaginative. The narrator was a bit lack luster, but adequate.

Acceptable

if your looking for a hot romantic vampire book, this isn't it, yes it has the elements but lacks the punch it's good enough for someone just starting to read this type of book though storyline was bland and predictable

good historical start to a series

I was apprehensive going into this, not the biggest fan of vampires. I was looking for more paranormal regency romance, ghosts and such and decided to give this a chance. I am glad I did. I was gripped from the opening! This was a great experience and you can easily get lost in the story. My only issues were that in the background of the audio there was some weird clicks that I found distracting and I did hear some words pronounced wrong but the narrator did do a great job besides these issues. . I am planning on making my way through the series now. =)

Really enjoyed this
