Publisher's summary

"Quick, cutting wit...a keen ear."--The New York Times Book Review

Hollywood’s newest wunderkind is Peter Alan Nelsen, the brilliant, erratic director known as the King of Adventure.

His films make billions, but his manners make enemies. What the boy king wants, he gets, and what Nelsen wants is for Elvis to comb the country for the wife and infant child the film-school flunkout dumped en route to becoming the third-biggest filmmaker in America. It’s the kind of case Cole can handle in his sleep - until it turns out to be a nightmare. For when Cole finds Nelsen’s ex-wife in a small Connecticut town, she’s nothing like he expects. She has some unwanted - and very nasty - mob connections, which means Elvis could be opening an East Coast branch of his P.I. office...at the bottom of the Hudson River.

"Elvis [Cole] is the greatest...[ he is] perhaps the best detective to come along since Travis McGee."--San Diego Tribune

"[Crais is] far better at the private-eye-novel racket than most writers."--Newsweek

What a book. Possibly his best.

Great plot. Emotion. Character development. Narrator was great. The only thing I didn’t like was the cover shot of the young boy :) bc it made me think it might be about child abduction etc which I can’t stomach. Not the case. Great book. Bravo.

Stellar story

Well written & performed by Mel Foster on audio version.
Great tempo, and the story moves right along.
Elvis & Pike are quite a pair, and it's fun getting to know them better at each outing.

No disappointment here!

Love the narrative

I’ve read this book many years ago but Foster’s narrative actually created visuals like I was watching a movie.

Surprised as to how much I liked this book.

Good story with enough twists to hold my interest. Look forward to next book in series.

It's hard to get past a narrator

What did you like best about Lullaby Town? What did you like least?

I'm not sure that I can really comment on the book. I can't get past the reader. Bought Lullaby Town so that I could listen to all of the series but the narrator sounds so much like Dick Hill. I just finished returning all the books I have bought narrated by him as his narration grates on me. Don't know if I will get through this one. I have to read it instead.

How could the performance have been better?

Not sounding like Dick Hill.

Do you think Lullaby Town needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

There is a follow up book read by the same man. I have already bought it but may have to return. I usually listen to a book straight through. I am having trouble listening for more than 30 minutes.

Engrossing, Funny and Suspenseful

The pace, humor and language of this Elvis Cole novel approach the me level of mastery of Raymond Chandler’s wise-cracking Philip Marlow novels. This is one of Robert Crais’ best in his Elvis Cole series.
