Great Author

I love Angela Pepper and her books are awesome. The author notes are nice and they give a lot of insight into what’s it’s like to write professionally.

Teen angst

I have loved every one of Angela peppers books. I thought this would be a great next read while waiting for the next wisteria book come out.
The first story. Started out great! Then turned in to drugs and sex that hit you hard and fast. It had potential to be a great story, long-term. However, just as it seemed to start into a story line it ended. The short story was all about a sex driven college student that needed to get her fix. One that happened the story was over.
The next book I couldn’t get through. Angela has been a great job at picking out her narrators. This book I couldn’t even finish. It’s about a teen that has a magical power that starts out in their bellybutton to see the future. The narrator is an older gentleman that just sounded pervy narrated in the story.
So, I stopped listening to the books. it just seem to be a bad line for me.
So book one was a “tap that” and leading into the second book just felt inappropriate. Do not get me wrong. The narrator for the second book has a wonderful narration. I just think that the age of bracket of character should’ve been someone younger or a younger voice needed to be used.
An older man’s voice acting like a teen while letting girls putting their fingers in his bellybutton just seemed unsettling. I couldn’t clear that image.

Sorry Angela I still love your other books. I just couldn’t get past the icky feeling.

It’s cheesy

I usually like Angela Pepper books, but this one is super cheesy. To the point it’s hard to get through.

I am a newer fan of Angela Pepper’s.

I really enjoy most of Angela Pepper’s books. I really enjoy her series with witches. I started reading them first and have really enjoyed them. I am trying to decide if I should read the romance comedy series next or the paranormal. Whatever I decide on I am sure I will enjoy it.

So glad that I came across this author.

Extremely Disappointing

Like other reviewers, I typically enjoy this author's work, but just could not get through this one.

The first story is a short, jumbled mess about an insufferable, self-absorbed, narcissistic nepo baby.
My least favorite part is where she msgs a teacher she hated just a nanosecond ago asking for a booty call. When she gets to his house, she acts like an absolute predator when he has reservations about hopping onto the futon in the back of her great grandmother's van with her...

The random parts about her eating drug brownies (that she was expressly told not to - TWICE) and stars pouring out of her 👇🏻👇🏻 were disjointed and uncomfortable. She listens to no one, takes zero responsibility for her actions and has even less respect for anyone/everyone around her.

There's also a random bit about a dance that seems like it came right out of a movie about high school. Not college. Super cringey.

Again, as other reviewers have said, just as the mess seems to be figuring itself out, it's over. She's learned nothing and still has zero redeeming qualities.

The second story is also written about teens in college, yet is narrated by a very adult male with a sultry, gravelly voice. It made listening to the parts about the main character and a female teen touching each other very uncomfortable.

In the end, I stopped listening and asked for a refund. Hopefully the other books are better. It certainly can't get any worse than this.

I want expecting this from Angela Pepper

I have greatly enjoyed Ms peppers books in the past however, this series just did not cut it for me. The child that is the main character and her purple sparks and where they shoot from are just a little more than I can handle. no, actually they are a lot more than I can handle. I kept waiting, and waiting and waiting some more for the storyline to improve and the narrating to improve along with it and that did not happen before I could not take anymore. I was not able to finish the series nor was I able to even finish the first book. just before writing this review I read another one that stated there is a male narrator in the second book. I am so thankful I did not get to that twist. I do not feel that this first book was appropriate, I know I would have been upset by a male narrating anything like this. I'm sorry Ms. Pepper, I will continue to anticipate updates from the Wisteria crew.
