About this listen

In Allison Brennan's Make Them Pay, Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan are finally tying the knot.

Two weeks before their wedding, a surprise visitor shows up at their door: Eden, Sean's estranged sister from Europe. She claims she's in town for the wedding and wants to mend fences. Lucy invites Eden to stay with them - after all, family is family - but her boss, SSA Noah Armstrong, knows far more about Eden's sketchy past than he's let on.

While Lucy is focused on her investigation tracking down dozens of children sold through illegal adoptions, Noah begins a quiet investigation of Eden and her elusive twin, Liam. He's certain that since they're both thieves, they're here for a job or a heist. But they are up to something far more sinister than even Noah can imagine.

Liam has a score to settle with his family, and Sean has something he wants. The twins will do anything to get it - including putting Lucy's life in danger. It'll take everyone - Kincaids and Rogans alike - to stop Liam before someone dies. Unfortunately, Liam's treachery has unforeseen consequences for Sean and Lucy, as a longtime enemy of the Rogan family hell-bent on revenge sees an opportunity to make them all pay....

The best yet

I’ve listened to this audible 4 times and it doesn’t leave you not wanting there to be a movie. The action, the family, the loyalty, the love and enormous respect for doing the right thing is awesome. And the narrator(s) creates an atmosphere that makes you believe you are apart of their lives. Thank you. You are quite a writer.

Good story, bad choice of narrator.

I really enjoyed the story but found the narration irritating and distracting. I switched to reading the story after the first chapter.

Good book

A little long & repetitive. But great book. A different story that keeps you listening. Loved the narration.

As usual....

Good storyline (up to a point) but terrible narrator. Last 40 minutes were unbearable. Very drawn out. Did author really need to describe ALL the wedding guests?! The story is like hearing a horror story and a harlequin romance rolled into one. Once again, overwrought narration, overly dramatic and enunciated.

Personally, the story was difficult to rate accurately as the narration was very annoying.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Throughout the entire recording, I debated finishing the book due to the narration.

Couldn't finish this book

What would have made Make Them Pay better?

Probably a different narrator.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She has a nice, clear voice, but was totally inappropriate to voice this book.

Any additional comments?

In all fairness the narrator, who may be perfectly suited to a different book, was so appallingly bad for this boy that I couldn't even finish it. She has a nice voice, sweet, light, and would do well, I'd imagine, but not for a book with mostly male characters who aren't the nicest or most honest people in the world.

I can't believe I listened to the whole thing.

The worst book ever. Not one character was given any genuine qualities. Unbelievable background for everyone. Story was so contrived it was laughable. I was actually rooting for the protagonist to be killed because the deserve it for being such boors.
