About this listen

Deep in Imperium Nihilus, Blood Angels Chief Librarian Mephiston and his comrades are drawn into battle with a cabal of Thousand Sons sorcerers – with worlds at stake and hidden truths threatening to overwhelm him, this is Mephiston's darkest hour....

Experience a battle of psychic might in the Dark Imperium and witness Mephiston taking on his greatest challenges ever, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Having fought during the devastation of Baal, Mephiston and a cohort of Blood Angels are drawn by cryptic visions to a war-torn world on the cusp of the Great Rift. Here, the sorcerers of the Thousand Sons seek to unite nine Silver Towers and bring about a ritual that will empower their master, the daemon-primarch Magnus. The ritual must be prevented, lest the entire sub-sector be cast into Chaos. Mephiston faces a challenge like no other, of his strength and his will, confronting a hidden truth that threatens to expose him to his darkest fears.

I enjoyed the book. The ending was fitting. Blood Angels, Magnus the Red. Worth the listen.

Good book

this author has captured Mephiston perfectly. He's part Vampire Hunter D, part Alucard, and part Gandalf. it's a recipe for greatness.

The series meanders a bit, but it gets where it's supposed to go. The 3rd book of the series is perhaps the best of the 3. I'll know for sure when I listen to the trilogy again as a whole.

I fell asleep during the ending the first time and woke up not liking the book. But then I found my place and listened again. The ending is abrupt. You have to listen carefully. But when it all adds up, it left me with that "YEAH!" feeling.

So I say you give this story room to wander, don't be afraid to rewind it. Like the book's protagonist, it is arcane. But it's extremely rewarding when you give it a chance. In a lot of ways, it's a departure from some of the more action-ish, fast-paced 40k books.

I think if you liked The Lords of Silence and Angel Exterminatus from the HH Series, you'll enjoy this one. It's weird and some of it is a lot to absorb, but the author does right by the character and the Chapter.

great end to a great series

This book really had me constantly on the edge of my seat a true thrill from beginning to end it constantly keeps you captivated and wondering what will happen next. The narration that was done and the formance played by him were as expected very easy to distinguish the individual characters and understand and feel the emotion of the situation in the setting that is before you. He did a very good job at being able to make it easy to understand what's going on despite how complex certain things may get closer towards the end. The author does a great job at being very descriptive of the settings our champion finds himself in and this paints a picture that most would get lost in the attempt.

Overall top notch performance top notch writing this will have you on the edge of your seat, it is a great 3rd and final book.

Constantly on the edge

The series downgrades in quality as it goes but this was still a fun conclusion to the saga.

Diminished returns, still solid

I realized that this isn't the first Mephiston book, but I jumped in here anyways, and found that I was still able to follow and enjoy the story. Meph is an interesting character, Magnus and Co are always fun in a 40k novel and the intrigue was enjoyable.

Not every 40k book holds my attention, but this one had me looking firward to my.work commute for several days. The Emperor Protects ;)

I loved my first look at Mephiston

i like how Mephiston developed. The way he managed conflicts and plans for his mission. But i hate how writer likes to rush 30 mins of ending and missing out huge details of what is going on? suddenly end and let us decide how it happened?

Amazing Story but Rushing Towards the End

Some of the voices of the space marines, demons and soldiers sound hilarious but definitely not something they would sound like lol

Some voices sound really funny
