About this listen

Golden Girls meets Thelma and Louise.

After her grumpy husband dies, Sally throws out his thread-worn plaid recliner, cashes the life insurance check, and lets her spunky best friend, Pearl, drag her to Mexico for an all-inclusive vacation using their Senior Citizen’s discount. They kayak, sing karaoke, and spy on the next-door nudist resort. Sally’s not sure if it’s the sun or tequila, but she is truly having fun for the first time in her life. That is, until a fellow guest turns up dead. While Sally fearfully packs her bags for home, Pearl insists they stay and get to the bottom of what’s happened. Together, they become crime-fighting seniors who refuse to let the bad guys win.

I enjoyed this mystery. Pearl and Sally were great , so funny ,and right in the middle of this mystery.

Great mystery

The opening of the book held lots of promise. It rather quickly devolved to silly antics and women who are smarter than that, acting stupidly. I guess there is an assumption that after fifty and definitely after sixty that you turn gullible and predictable.
I like cozy mysteries. I especially like mysteries where women are the lead. But I like best of all women who sharp, observant and blessed with common sense.

Parts were good

Sally and Pearl remind me of my own grandma's at the same time as I think of me and my best friend. Yes, there is a murder, yes, there is a mystery, but there is so much more. It's about the difficult times that we all endure and the friendships that help us make it through. The Pearlisms are so funny every time, they lighten the mood and put a smile on my face. These two women are relatable, and remind us of our best friends in my own life.

Silly, predictable. Waste of time and credit. Even the narration was forced I only read it for book club or I wouldn’t have bothered to finish

Corny! Waste of time and credit. Read it first book club, otherwise I would have sent it back!
