About this listen

Can a curse be a blessing? Can dark power right a great wrong and heal a broken world?

Jaryd is a bartender and woodcutter for the Brass Bat Tavern and Inn. When he is not tending bar, chopping down trees, or fighting off simple undead, he often buries himself in books to escape his sordid past. With his friends, they try to lead a simple life on the outskirts of nowhere.

When a great evil reaches the lone inn, Jaryd becomes cursed to take on the mantle of Midknight, tasked with protecting a group of powerful undead in a nearby dungeon, whether he wants to or not.

Jaryd will have to navigate undead politics and traditions while protecting his friends from a fate worst than death.

Can Jaryd become powerful enough to fight a growing evil that threatens the realm of Ikkudran? Will his own thirst for power and justice consume him? Can he craft his armor, gain magical weapons and defeat a hidden enemy before his soul is taken by the very undead he swore to protect?

Midknight: A Doom of Liches is for mature listeners 18 and up.

Just for the record, I got a copy of this audio book for free. Don't normally review books regardless. Any way, as a fan of Eden Redd, I really enjoyed this book. It's mysterious enough to be stand-alone and intriguing enough to force all Card Mage readers to take notice lol It weirdly reminds me of Radley's Home for Horny Monsters, and Darkest Dungeon (the game). Anyway, I really enjoyed the book and hope I can purchase 3-four more before the end. Real people need real world happiness or there's no point. Keep up the world =)

Great new series, same Card Mage world

This is a fun story that takes place in the same world as Card Mage and I'm very much looking forward to the next in the series.

What can I say about this one that the blurp does not? It's a fantastic ride following new characters the same world from Eden's card page. Including one character from that series if you look close enough!

Ms. Redd does a wonderful job with her characters, as always they are the strongest part of any of her stories. I personally found the system interesting as it plays off things developed in the Card Mage books, the steamy scenes are A- class as always from Ms. Redd.

The Narration? When you have the cotton candy voice of the one and only Sierra Kline at the helm you know what you're going to get: fantastically delivered lines, moving emotional moments, and tow curling delicious sensual moments.

This is a hands-down buy for me and I will absolutely pick up more from Ms. Redd and Sierra Kline .

Fantastic tale about a reluctant anti-hero

Just finished book 1 and want to say how thoroughly I enjoyed this book. I really liked the two distinct tales Eden tells — the dungeon dive to meet the lich and the relationship with Jaryd and the woman in his life. One of the better dungeon dives that I have read in a long time. None of the characters are super powered and they get hurt and take damage along the way. I also liked the relationship that Jaryd forms with Nelga, Petra and Shay. I find a lot of the “harem” books tend to have a weak plot. This story had a strong plot...and I am ready for book 2.

Great start of a new series!

The Male MC is a little to subtle in their narration but it doesn't distract from the great story. It expands the universe of the Card Mage series in a good way that is additive without seeming to be just an addon. Looking forward to the next book.

Great engaging story

All of the characters are interesting with well done motivations. The adult scenes were very tasteful and felt very smooth throughout the story. Narration was well done.

I liked the characters
