About this listen
Discover how to strike the perfect screen-time balance. Reap the benefits of technology without the negative consequences.
You may find yourself worrying that your child is spending more time in front of a screen than playing outside, learning something new, or socializing with family.
All you ever hear is how technology is rotting the brains of your kids, preventing them from developing social skills and exposing them to violence.
What you need to know is: all this stigma around technology is often misinformed.
There is no doubt that overexposure to anything can be harmful.
But when you apply technology, the right way, you uncover the endless benefits it can offer. The quality of the digital content we expose our kids to is what makes the difference. It’s about leaning into the positives of screen-time while being aware of when it becomes negative.
In The Guilty Parents - Screen Kids, you will discover:
- The essential tools to moderate technology use in your kids’ lives, manage your own worry and anxiety, and maintain a happy family
- A well-researched guide to help you navigate screen-time and know how to set healthy limits
- The myths about technology use and unhealthy amounts of digital exposure - debunked
- A strategy for when to set screen-time rules - and when to let go of them
- The online activities and video games that can inspire creativity, boost problem-solving skills, and educate...all at the same time
- Practical information to help you set reasonable rules and sensible boundaries that work for your family
- And much more.
As a parent, it’s natural to worry.
But you don’t have to feel guilty for letting your child watch their favorite show once in a while, or agonize about not spending enough time together as a family.
Now, you can know exactly how you can make the most of technology while strengthening your bond with your kids.

Story
There isn’t a single parenting book that describes the extent of a parent’s worries. We worry about everything from their health to their happiness to the little scrape on their knee to their future careers. But it’s the signs of developmental delays that really keep us up at night. According to Mencap, there are approximately 351,000 children in the UK with a learning disability. In the US, 17 percent of children have delays in physical, learning, language, or behavior development.

Story
Many parents dread talking to their kids about money in fear of opening pandora’s box. But firstly, that box is probably already open; you will be surprised at what kids soak up from their friends, what they see on TV and on social media, and what they hear you talking about at home. And secondly, if it isn’t already, it likely will be soon, and this will be out of your control. It may be better if we actually open this box from time to time anyway. Not talking to your kids about money can actually make them think that money is something to fear.

We see it everywhere: at the park, in restaurants, and inside our homes and cars - kids connected to handheld devices and disconnected from the world around them. According to the latest research, the average 13-year-old spends eight hours per day, seven days a week, glued to a screen. Yes, this is problematic, but for every problem there is a solution. In Disconnected, renowned psychotherapist and longtime school counselor Tom Kersting explores the device-dependent world our children live in and how it is impacting their mental and emotional well-being.

Eye Opener! Great Book!
This audiobook really opened my eyes on screen time. My favorite section was Are Screens Making my Kids Dumb? It was a relief for me to know. This section made me realize that I'm not a bad parent. I loved the tips in this audiobook that with controlled exposure to screen time can also be beneficial to my kids as well. Moderation is the key. I learned to find a balance in controlling my children to screen time. Realizing that not having a computer for my kids can actually harm them when it is time to enter the workforce. I loved the health benefits that this audiobook points out to having controlled screen time. I recommend this audiobook if you feel that you are losing control over your kids screen time!

A Must-Listen for Parents!
Sometimes our bonding time with my kids is - all of us on our phones or gadgets, each on his own watching or playing games. And I keep telling my kids not to exceed their allotted screentime. This book just talked to me! It's full of helpful tips, and it opened my eyes to more options or alternatives for spendng time on gadgets - more productive and fun options. And we're going to start to have an active social life. I don't care if we have a messy house. Thanks to this book! Very well-researched, too! If you want to successfully limit your child's screentime or use their screentime wisely, listen to this book. I highly recommend it!

An Important resource for your kids
This is such an important resource to use to help regulate your kids time on their phones, tablets or TVs. I wish I had this audiobook years ago when my kids were younger than they are now. Also, really good information on how to use the technology we have to benefit your kids. I highly recommend this book for all parents with kids that spend too much time indoors and watching various screens.

A very interesting approach..
We, parents, know all too well when we seep into that guilty parent mode !! I had taken a course called "Love & Logic for parents" designed by a psychologist and it had given me some pointers to deal with kids, however, this book is a gem of ideas, perspective explained very clearly and constructively. Too often, we jump the bandwagon, when it comes to screen time of kids with a certain narrow narrative however I learned now that kids nowadays interact differently and live in different times than we did and thus our approach needs to alter accordingly. I would recommend this book to any parent who are at lost dealing with kids with technologies and the methodology from this book will also transpire into other aspects of parenthood!
The delivery of the narration was superb. A must listen for sure!

The struggle is real…. I feel like my kids are spending way too much time on technology, between schoolwork, entertainment, researching. Everything involves screen time. This book helped to regulate my kid's screen time consumption. I love all the tips that had provided in this book. I agree our kids need to play and have real interaction, then stares at a screen constantly. I highly recommended for every parent to read this book!!

Every parent needs this!
Today's modern digital world is very different to the one that even I grew up in back in the 90s and early 2000s. There are so many more challenges to deal with in terms of what children are exposed to. It's easy to just let your child go on a tablet and the internet for an easy life but this can manifest into bigger issues. This is such a useful audiobook for any parent. It's full of valuable information on how to not only control your child's screen time but also how to use screen time in an educational and positive way. The chapters are really well laid out into 8 main ones which all ask a vital question like 'Is screen time making my kid dumb?' and 'how can I use screen time to my advantage?' The chapters then go into depth to answer these questions and far more! If you want to learn how to take control and help your child use technology in a productive way growing up then this book is just what you need!

Informative, Balanced, Functional
Bought this for my brother-in-law as he and his wife were struggling with getting their son off of his phone, without wanting to take it away from him completely. The Guilty Parents - Screen Kids breaks down how these bad habits get started, how to structure your kids screen time in a way that promotes productivity without disabling them completely, and how to keep these habits moving forward.
The narrator is engaging and easy to follow without being overbearing, and the content is structured in a way that makes it easy to follow, understand and apply.
