About this listen

The definitive book on miracles from the New York Times best-selling author of Bonhoeffer, Eric Metaxas.

What are miracles, and why do we believe in them? Is it for comfort, to explain the inexplicable, or do we simply long for a connection with something larger than ourselves? And why do some people dismiss them out of hand, as if they can never happen?

What Heaven is for Real did for near-death experiences, Miracles does for the miraculous - provides undeniably compelling evidence that there's something real to be reckoned with, whatever one has thought of this topic before. It provides a wide range of real stories of the miraculous and will engage the listener in the serious discussion that this fascinating and rich subject deserves.

Miracles is in some ways a more personal, anecdotal, and updated version of C. S. Lewis's 1947 book on the subject. Metaxas's Miracles is an exploration and an exhortation to view miracles as not only possible, but as far more widespread than most of us had ever imagined.

Eric Metaxas says it is not a question of whether miracles happen - the evidence that they do is overwhelming in this audiobook alone - but rather, what exactly are miracles, why do they happen, and how can we to understand them in our own lives?

8th generation church of Christ & I approve!

Not too "feely" and down to earth! Love his evidence based style of writing and putting into perspective the power of God!!!

Miracles

Loved this book, great miraculous stories! But I didn't like how it portrayed being Catholics as basically a bad thing. Catholicism is very deep rooted and a great religion if you are willing to take the time and effort that it takes to be Catholic. The author has clearly never taken the time to understand the Catholic faith. Almost everyone who isn't Catholic thinks that Catholics don't know the bible because some cannot quote it verse for verse, that is not the point of the bible though, the bible is meant to be a tool to grow in faith and create a relationship with God. Practicing Catholics know the bible very well and use it as a tool to allow God to grow within us and be portrayed through us. That being said, there are a lot of Catholics and Christians that are not true Christians, they go through life to get "graces" for heaven by being good and obeying the bible, but they're missing the point of it all, if we only do things to get "graces", then we're not doing it because we want to, but because we feel we have to to achieve more graces... God wants us to WANT him. Being a true Christian is putting God first in every aspect of your life, listening to what he has to say and allowing him to work through you.

God is real!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a great book that has real life accounts of miracles that are well researched and are done to bring glory to God and for people to know the creator of the Universe - Jesus.

This book is not only about human miracles but of how the earth and our existence is a miracle in and of itself.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no

“What are the odds?...”

Anytime that is said, look for a miracle and one is more frequently than you would expect, presenting itself. As the Christian Love of Christ is embraced and worshiped, as life is lived with eyes wide open and in broad daylight, it seems an awareness occurs that allows the Lord to work, to speak, to move. It’s wonderful. I loved this book. A few of the stories made me stop and cry and praise and pray. This is a faith builder...a hope maker...another way to define our joy.

A must read/ listen

I really enjoyed this book! As a life long Christ follower the idea of miracles is not foreign to me. Admittedly I did not have a good grasp on them. This book is for those who don’t have knowledge of miracles truly are and for those whom could use a reminder. The second half of the book was stories of miracles of all types. After listening I would highly recommend to everyone.
