About this listen

The morning of Mr. Collins's proposal, Elizabeth leaves Longbourn for a walk, furious at the parson for proposing and her mother for pressing her to accept, eager to put some distance between herself and those who would persecute her. While walking, she meets a most unexpected acquaintance.

Fitzwilliam Darcy is dealing with frustrations of his own. Caroline Bingley, fearful that her brother means to propose to what she considers an unsuitable woman, has demanded that Darcy support her determination to prevent him from making a drastic mistake. While Darcy might have agreed with her view, what she suggests strikes him as deceitful.

Their meeting on the path proves fortuitous, for it allows them a chance to work past their first impressions. As they meet every day the following week, they understand more of each other, their regard growing, barriers between them falling. While misunderstandings drove them apart, on the paths of Longbourn estate they have the chance to set all right between them and attain happiness together that neither thought possible.

Good Story, Irritating Narrator

I like all of Jann Rowland’s works, and the story was no exception. The narrator however, was another story. Her breathy, girlish voice and her sultry, “happy birthday, Mr Pwesident” phrasing made it hard to appreciate the quality of the writing.

Good Story, Narration Distracting

Jann Rowland always word well. However, the slow, breathy translation was distracting. I can't imagine these character speaking this way. Sped up the Narration to 1.15 to make it easier to listen to.

low angst

I like that ODC was able to talk through their misunderstanding sooner rather than later. With their misunderstanding cleared, the villian wasn't able to make any mischeif because he was dealt with before he could ingratiate into Meryton society.

the book lacks....

the entire book takes place right after the Netherfield Ball. Only spans about 5 days. The entire time Bingley is in London. The book is really about Wickham and the slander he influenced E about D. No real moments that would have ODC fall in love.
THIS NARRATOR'S VOICE IS AWEFUL SHE SOUNDS LIKE SHE IS SPITTING. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD A COMPANY CHOOSE A VOICE SUCH HAS HERS UNLESS IT US THE COMPANY THAT MAKES HER VOICE AS SUCH. I had to speed up to 1.2 to 1.5 to tolerance her voice. DONT PURCHASE THIS. Not worth the credit.
