About this listen

After a year at the Mountain Vista Assisted Living Complex, Joyce Webster has yet to really settle in. Mountain Vista is just like high school with its cliques and gossip, not to mention its mind-numbing activities. Life gets a little more interesting, though, when one of Joyce's least favorite fellow residents - an old windbag with a big ego and a knack for making enemies - dies in a suspicious fall. Joyce and her friends try to puzzle out the whodunit but are at a loss until Benny the dog turns up a telling clue. As they dive deeper into the case, Joyce and her friends find that grudges do not fade with age - instead, they seem to only grow stronger.

Between longer novels I'm listening to some highly rated novellas/short stories. Murder at Mountain Vista is about a murder at an assisted care facility. You will never guess the killer!

Marvelous story with great narration!

As I listened to this story the heading for my review kept playing in my head. Getting old is not for wimps and in some ways very much like high school. Going in you knew from the description that the pompous ass was going to be the one murdered. The author made him so unlikable that I was actually looking forward to it. This was a cute little who done it. I liked the sleuthing done by the main character. The story was good, but the look inside what an assisted living or elder care facility for people of some means was actually pretty insightful. It really makes you think about the independence you lose as you get older. I hope I am as sassy as some of these ladies were.
