About this listen

Hailed as “queen of the cozy police procedural” (Publishers Weekly), USA Today bestselling author Carlene O’Connor returns to County Cork in Ireland’s lush countryside, where locals are simmering with excitement over the reality TV baking contest coming to town—until someone serves up a show-stopping murder that only Garda Siobhan O’Sullivan can solve.

In Kilbane, opinions are plentiful and rarely in alignment. But there’s one thing everyone does agree on—the bakery in the old flour mill, just outside town, is the best in County Cork, well worth the short drive and the long lines. No wonder they’re about to be featured on a reality baking show. All six contestants in the show are coming to Kilbane to participate, and the town is simmering with excitement. Aside from munching on free samples, the locals—including Siobhan—get a chance to appear in the opening shots.

As for the competitors themselves, not all are as sweet as their confections. There are shenanigans on the first day of filming that put everyone on edge, but that’s nothing compared to day two, when the first round ends and the top contestant is found face-down in her signature pie.

The producers decide to continue filming while Siobhan and her husband, Garda Macdara Flannery, sift through the suspects. Was this a case of rivalry turned lethal, or are their other motives hidden in the mix? And can they uncover the truth before another baker is eliminated—permanently?

Love this series! I hope one day this series could become the next midsummer murders! You can feel the Irish countryside coming through in every book in the series! The characters are all wonderfully developed!!! Looking forward to the next one!!!!

Needs to be a television series!!!!

Someone previously wrote that this series should be tv shows. I wholeheartedly agree. Love it!!!

Over too soon

Like so many others, I’ve read (listened to) all the books in the series. I love them all but I found this one a little flat. The killer was the obvious choice once the characters were introduced. I think having the McBride woman be the killer would have made it more interesting

Not my favorite

I always enjoy Carlene O’Connor’s Irish mysteries. I miss the family and community connection that enveloped the first several books. The stories are always intelligent and intriguing but I miss the village and it’s charming characters as well as the Sullivan siblings.

Another solid Irish Mystery

There are many references to how people look and that can get repetitive. The series is easy to listen to and follow along with

I had two hours app to go but I just couldn’t finish it. I have loved all the books up until this one. This one just droned on and on and on… same ole same ole….

I will check out the next in the series if there is a next but OMG I hope it’s better than this one. It’s almost as if someone else wrote this book and the original author had nothing to do with it. I hope her ideas have not ran dry….

Could I have done a better job? Absolutely not, but then again, I am not an author…

I just gave up…

Loved listening to this who-done-it, as all in the series of the Irish o'sullivan six.
And Caroline Lennon makes it come to life and warm the heart...
Can't wait for the next!

The narrator Caroline Lennon is the icing on top!
