About this listen

At midnight, one of them is dead. By morning, all of them are suspects.

It's the party to end all parties . . . but not everyone is here to celebrate.

On New Year's Eve, Rhys Lloyd has a house full of guests. His vacation homes on Mirror Lake are a success, and he's generously invited the village to drink champagne with their wealthy new neighbors.

But by midnight, Rhys will be floating dead in the freezing waters of the lake.

On New Year's Day, Ffion Morgan has a village full of suspects. The tiny community is her home, so the suspects are her neighbors, friends and family—and Ffion has her own secrets to protect.

With a lie uncovered at every turn, soon the question isn't who wanted Rhys dead . . . but who finally killed him.

In a village with this many secrets, murder is just the beginning.

Amazing narrator!

The narrator have these characters life with the accents. The beginning of the story was a bit slow, but it ramped up the mystery until the end. The foul language was a bit much, but it was still a great mystery.

Great but…

Very good story. But … between following heavy accents and so many character names it takes almost too much effort. That said … I enjoyed but was glad I have easily reversed listening device.

Really Good!

This was a good story, well told. None of the characters were all that endearing, but that worked for this story. As an American, I had a little trouble with a bit of the Welsh accents, and I also didn’t realize there was this much animosity between the English and the Welsh. I imagine that is always the case along borders, however. Well worth the credit and time.

Love the timeline

Such a good book! Loved how the timeline was written and how everyone was essentially connected to the murder. Definitely reading book #2.

great story but too slow

I really love the concept I love her story I love the twists and turns but it was really really really slow to listen to had a hard time staying with it this is the longest I think it's taking me to ever finish up book on tape. I hope she writes more but I also hope something can be done to not make the Slow Burn so slow

Great plot with lots of twists

Halfway through the book you will realize that almost everyone from the old welsh town and the upscale Shores development has a very good reason to want Rhys Lloyd dead. This is an excellent one to listen to, rather than reading, because the welsh terms are spoken and explained. Lots of characters and plot twists in this book. But it all makes sense and comes together like waves lapping on a lake shore. It’s a good one!

A bit confusing

Hard to follow. I think it was the accent. Didn’t love it. It was just okay.
