I was referred to read this book by my music industry program. And it's not like I have a really high bar for standards of audio quality in an Audible, but you'd think from an industry professional that (even recording during coronavirus times) that he could access a quality microphone and a somewhat sound treated area to capture his voice. I was pretty shocked at first by that. I eventually got used to it but the audio editing was still choppy and distracting from time to time. But I am a musician and have crazy good hearing for nuance and detail.
With that being said, my issue may not bother any of you so enjoy the book!

the sound quality was surprisingly trashy

The audio version of Music Business Essentials is excellent. The pacing and read of the book are engaging…and the music bridges between chapters and little sound effect touches keep it aurally interesting. The announcer at the beginning of the recording lets us know Mike Curb (who reads his foreword) is coming from his office on Music Row in Nashville, so that audio quality sounds “on location” but it’s fun and totally acceptable. But audio quality aside, the most important thing is the content of this book, which is extremely valuable and encouraging.

Audio Quality Totally Acceptable!
