About this listen

A small-town Christmas novella by the New York Times bestselling author of LAKEFRONT BILLIONAIRES series that will make you want to pack your bags and spend the holiday in Lake Wisteria.

Catalina
Playing the part of my sister’s maid of honor is easy even if she’s marrying my ex.
But playing nice with the best man? An impossible task given our history.
Sure, Luke Darling may be suspiciously kind, incredibly handsome, and stubborn to a fault, but regardless of how hard he tries to make me see otherwise, I’m not interested.
It’s on me to remind him that he’s my ex-boyfriend’s best friend.
And the one I’m secretly starting to wish I met first.

Luke
My job as the best man is a simple one, except for one minor issue.
I’ve spent so much time avoiding my best friend’s ex that I didn’t consider what could happen if I started craving Catalina Martinez’s company instead.
She is only in Lake Wisteria for the winter wedding, but her January departure date won’t stop me from pursuing her.
Getting her to date me would be nothing short of a Christmas miracle, but I’m determined to make her mine.
‘Tis the season to fall in love…even if I’m the only one taking the risk.

My December Darling is a 50,000-word, Christmas-themed romance between a grumpy maid of honor and an outgoing best man who chases after what he wants.

I love Noah and Vanessa

I loved everything about this, especially as a nurse myself. I related to Luke and Catalina’s struggles, both at work and at home. It was cute how hard Cat tried to stay away from Luke, but I loved how supportive their families and friends were of them. This book is so sweet, and it was a great ending to a great year!

What a lovely holiday story!

We are spending the holidays in Lake Wisteria, sharing delicious coquitos and building Lego sets!

Catalina is back in town to be the maid of honor in her sister's wedding... to her ex. To add insult to injury, she has to spend time with the infuriatingly handsome and kind Dr Luke Darling, the groom's best friend and best man.

Between best men and maid of honor duties, they'll drink coquitos, build elaborate Lego sets, build gingerbread houses and bake so many baked goods... and to Luke's utter delight, fall in love.

SWOON CITY! What a delightful novella! I love all the inhabitants of Lake Wisteria (we have some cameos here) and I fell in love with the skittish Catalina and the golden retriever Luke.

Narrated in duet by Vanessa Vasquez and Noah B. Perez, who are quickly becoming favorites, and I squeal when I see them  paired together. Vanessa's voice and performance are perfect for the standoffish Catalina, who has a warm heart hidden under her reindeer scrubs. Noah's deep and raspy voice will do things to you every time he says 'Catalina'.

Get yourself a Lego set, a coquito (or eggnog) and enjoy this lovely story and its small town, Christmas-y vibes! ¡Feliz Navidad!

Representation: Catalina is Latine

Nice Short Holiday Romance

Narration
Noah B. Perez voice is amazing and kept me captivated with the story. His change in infliction definitely helps me know the change of characters. Vanessa Vasquez voice is equally amazing because she plays off the many characters including the moms (haha) which was very entertaining. Also i love the duet narration. The narration was great as always.

Story
The story definitely gets you excited for the holiday… romance. It was a grumpy sunshine read which is definitely one of my favorite tropes. The sexual tension and the banter was top tier and i wanted to keep reading about this couple. I always love that this author highlights the trauma that children might feel even in adulthood. it was perfection.

Hallmark Holiday Vibes

I loved how the narrators executed the story! Loved the hallmark vibes of the book, very cute romance story. However was missing the more christmasy vibes. There were moments for sure but not as much as I expected. Overall a cute holiday romance, would recommend!

Love conquering all

This fun and quirky novella is well written and worth reading during the holiday season. Enemy to lovers, close proximity, and found family are just a few tropes in this book. Gabriela and Aiden are to be married on December 30th. But Catalina, Gabriela sister and the FMC dated Aiden prior to her sister. Catalina will be her sister’s maid of honor. Luke Darling, an emergency room physician and Aiden’s best man and is the MMC is interested in Catalina. Luke dreams up way to be near Catalina. Luke only has two weeks to win over Catalina, she is a traveling pediatric nurse and she will be leaving after the wedding. This had me lol and kicking my feet. I’m giving this a rating of 4 ⭐️ with a spicy rating a 2 🌶️. This is a good holiday season read and I recommend it to those who like the Lake Wisteria series. Lauren Asher has hit this one out of the park.

Book & Audio Review

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve dived into a Lauren Asher book, but this little holiday novella packed all the punch! Christmas reads hold a special place in my heart—they never fail to make me swoon over that cozy Christmas magic.

Luke and Catalina? Total perfection. Luke’s glass-half-full, upbeat personality is the ultimate balance to Catalina’s black-cat energy. Watching Catalina embrace the good things in life and take chances was everything. The character growth? Chef’s kiss.

Audiobook lovers, take note: this is duet narration at its finest, produced by Lyric Audiobooks! Noah Perez and Vanessa Vasquez can do no wrong. Noah gave Luke the swooniest book boyfriend performance, and Vanessa had me laughing along with Catalina’s quick quips. This narration duo is pure magic.

Cutest. Story. EVER.

The story characters and romance were 6 stars!!! My only dislike is how the MMC’s voice performance was. He would whisper sometimes and it sounded like he backed away from the mic while recording a couple times. I love his voice! Just think he needs to work on his performance.
