About this listen

It's a nightmare when master magician Skeeve and Aahz the Pervect fall into Dreamland....

Massha gets married with something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blew…up.

Bunny turns to Skeeve for help when an interdimensional beauty contest turns ugly.

Reality shows were never quite like this. Contestants hunt down Princess Gloriannamarjolie for a chance to win the greatest treasure in the kingdom.

Join Skeeve, Aahz, Massha, Tananda, Bunny, Gleep, the Fairy Godfather, and random mythical creatures in eight stories that span the manic MYTH universe. Robert Asprin and Jody Lynn Nye have compiled their favorite tales — and concocted some new ones — for this collection of myth-adventures.

What happened??

Normally I look forward to listening to all of Robert Asprin’s books, as I love Noah Michael Levine’s narration. He puts some much life into the characters. But for some reason it seems like he forgot what he’s doing with this book. The voices are new and not the same and it puts the listener in a different world after 12 prior books of these amazing voices.
Almost sounds like he was just rushing the job or it’s an imposter. Sad.

Good set of shorts

As with all of the books in this series, this entry is enjoyable though in several ways a step below the quality of previous books. It s a collection of several short stories. The previous short story collection was excellent in that it gave you more insight into the supporting characters in the series with each story told from a different POV. That is less true in this book as each story features several of the supporting characters instead of just one. Most of the stories are relatively unmemorable and not as humorous or clever as is usual for this series. My biggest problem and one that distracts from the quality of the experience if you are listening to the series in order with little break in between each book is the up to this book Noah Michael Levine has been one of my favorite readers because he gives a true performance with every character having a distinct voice that carried through each book in the series. Ahhhz in one book sounded like Ahhhz in another book until this one. The voices that had grown so familiar are not present here at all. I wonder if Levine had not read one of the Myth books in a while before doing this one as he seems to have forgotten the voices he used. He is still an excellent reader but it is hard to follow the story when you are less sure who is talking. Ahhz in particular sounds completely different. I thought he was using his old Skeeve voice at first until I realized it was Ahhz

I love this series... But

I was so looking forward to the next book in the series only to be let down for the first time shone I started listening to it.
This one is like deleted scenes from the whole series, short stories that do nothing to keep the story going.
Not a fan.
