About this listen

A scorching workplace romance proves hazardous in this new stand-alone from New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cora Brent.

As a project manager at a successful construction firm, Audrey Gordon is used to grueling 80-hour workweeks. That’s what it takes to be the best in this business, especially when you’re a woman. But what happens when Audrey is assigned to the biggest project in the city? She’s forced to team up with former lover and office rival Jason Roma. Not only is Jason as cocky and hot-wired as ever, he still manages to get under Audrey’s skin in ways she has spent years trying to forget. Yet Jason is determined to rekindle the past. And this time the lines between work and passion might be permanently blurred.

Fun read

I liked that alcoholism was adressed and continued road to keep on track. I was also sad that a death and missed opportunity. We should always say what is on our hearts before a loved one dies. Not one is guaranteed tomarrow.

Good story

This was a different read than what I was expecting. The first half was very much an enemies to lovers story that I ate up. It did take a turn in the last third of the book that I thought was really interesting and I would have seen it coming. I think it really made Audrey evaluate her relationship with Jason and what she wanted from her life. What truly was important. I liked the story and thought it was a good read. This is the first book I've read by this author and I found it very enjoyable.

I had a hard time with this narrators S's. I found it a little distracting throughout the story. She did a good job otherwise.

Very good story

Very well written, another great book by the author. The characters in this story faced some real life challenges, such as trying to make sense of a work-home life balance, divorce, a common addiction, and more. Very well written, truly recommended.
I was also able to listen to the audiobook and as this was an unknown narrator to me, I really enjoyed her talent at bringing the book to life.
