About this listen

In Agatha Christie’s baffling detective story, Nemesis, a letter from a dead man instructs Miss Marple how to conduct an investigation into a puzzlingly unspecific crime.

In utter disbelief, Miss Marple read the letter addressed to her from the recently deceased Mr. Rafiel—an acquaintance she had met briefly on her travels. He had left instructions for her to investigate a crime after his death. The only problem was, he had failed to tell her who was involved or where and when the crime had been committed. It was most intriguing.

Soon she is faced with a new crime—the ultimate crime—murder. It seems someone is adamant that past evils remained buried. . . .

Emilia Fox did a brilliant job performing/reading this book. I love Agatha Christie novels, and Miss Marple ones are usually great for a "cozy mystery." The usual twists and surprises are there. Loved it!

Well-read, relaxing Miss Marple Mystery

The narration here is excellent. Ms.Fix gives each of the characters a distinctive voice, and is able to remain consistent through the rather long story.
However, this is sadly not one of Christie’s best works. The story, characters, and plot twists are solid, but the writing is painfully repetitive. She over- explains and re-explains various plot points in a way that becomes incredibly irritating. An editor could have aired this down by about a quarter and made something really great.

Excellent performance by Emilia Fox. Classic Christie murder mystery. I very much enjoyed listening. One of her better stories, I think.

Excellent performance of a great Christie.

Loved story, good performance if somewhat problematic while wearing earbuds. Volume very changable. Good for AChristie fans

A little loud

This is a sequel of sorts to A Carabean Mystery. Miss Marple is brilliant in her typical soft-spoken, elderly appearance. I would have loved to hear Joan Hickson read her parts but was very pleased with Emilia Fox.

Miss Marple is an unlikely but powerful nemesis

The story is vintage Miss Marple, kind of like listening to Garrison Keillor on Prairie Home Companion, as it seems to wander around, but is always going somewhere; of course with Miss Marple it is going to find evil. One of the best Miss Marple stories for sure!! The reader does a good job and does a number of different voices and regional accents of the UK, most of which are good but some are not so great. Overall, the Audible book is certainly worth listening to, I recommend it.

The last Miss Marple
