About this listen

"Nexus is the most brilliant hard SF thriller I’ve read in years. It’s smart, it’s gripping, and it describes a chilling reality that is all-too-plausible. Ramez Naam is a name to watch for." (Brenda Cooper, author of The Silver Ship and the Sea and The Creative Fire Mankind Gets an Upgrade)

In the near future, the nano-drug Nexus can link mind to mind. There are some who want to improve it. There are some who want to eradicate it. And there are others who just want to exploit it. When a young scientist is caught improving Nexus, he’s thrust over his head into a world of danger and international espionage, with far more at stake than anyone realizes.

Too many names that were hard to remember as the story progressed. The story never took a deep dive into fiction so it all seemed more plausible but I missed my mind going to a new place that sci-fi usually brings out. There were very few fancy gadgets, limited autodrivjng cars, the web was still the web, but in this future a “tablet” was a “slate”.

Not my favorite book but still good.

excellent from beginning to end. thoughtful ideas on technology, politics, religion, and The Human Condition. On top of that a very well-told story comma with an amazing narrator!

We’re closer to something like this than we may think. But what can we do?

So very “now”

A great adventure suspense story filled with thought provoking scientific and ethical issues to consider. When is a human no longer a human?

Not just an adventure.

What did you love best about Nexus?

It presented some interesting ideas to think about, in relation to possible future technology

What other book might you compare Nexus to and why?

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

One of my favorite science fiction series of all time. The audiobook was well narrated. The plots, characters and setting were fantastic.

Outstanding

I love science fiction that makes me stop and think about whether the technologies presented could possibly come to be in my lifetime. So much has changed in my 53 years on this planet and I love stories that might actually happen soon.

Made me wonder how possible this is

Sentence by sentence, the author first shows you their ideas, and then explains it explicitly, redundantly.

Makes for a decent young adult cyberpunk novel if you haven't read one about "what does humanity do if tech can make just some of us hyper-evolved?"

Interesting premise, too much "tell"

I was a little disappointed. I thought it was going to be a little more science fiction-y, but it turned out to be rather run of the mill. If it had focused more on Nexus, it would have been better. In this book, you could substitute any illegal article for Nexus and it would've been the same.

It was ok
