Publisher's summary

The biggest story of a crime reporter’s career could be her last as fury, vengeance, and justice collide in this breathtaking thriller by New York Times bestselling author T.R. Ragan.

Some call it murder. Others, karma. The female vigilantes dubbed The Black Wigs call it justice. The victims? Sexual predators who never paid for their sins. For three months, The Black Wigs byline has belonged to Sawyer Brooks, a crime reporter still struggling with her own demons. But for Sawyer, there’s suddenly more to the story than just catching the dark web avengers.

Copycat vigilantes are cornering the unchecked abusers of Sacramento and uploading the men’s abject fear to social media. The trending insanity isn’t making Sawyer’s job any easier. Neither is a new murder - another predator, but one who doesn’t fit so neatly into The Black Wigs’ agenda. Something even more sinister is at play.

As she follows every lead, someone with the answer is following her, determined to bring Sawyer to her knees. Because soon enough, for both Sawyer and a killer, the truth she’s been looking for will be a punishing revelation.

Secrets…

This series had me hooked from book 1! Three sisters, Harper, Sawyer & Aria, had a horrible childhood but they’ve survived and living their best lives….or are they. Secrets have a way of coming out and Harper has a huge one that can significantly change her life. The thing is, her investigative reporter sister, Sawyer, may be her downfall. You will not want to stop reading once you get started! Love the HEA!

Close but still no cigar

Ragan has a knack for storytelling and good plotting. This Sawyer Brooks series is a bit better than her Jessica Cole series, but suffers from similar flaws. Where she loses me in all her books is in the forced action scenes, often at the denouement, where common sense actions and likely behavior is supplanted by stupidity and unlikely behavior by her heroines. When I’m listening to one of these flawed scenes I almost feel like I’m watching the Geico commercial where the kids in a fictional horror movie hide behind a rack of chainsaws. There hasn’t been one of her books that hasn’t made me groan at some stupid character behavior. And, in every instance I could think of an alternative treatment that would’ve worked as well without being so unbelievable.

Great Series

This series did not disappoint. A dark story told in a not so dark way, wrapped with a bow. The third installment was a little slower than the last two but I still enjoyed it. I highly recommend, and suggest you do them in order.

I didn't want it to end!

I have enjoyed this series so much and this book was no exception. T R Ragan has become one of my most favorite authors. This book, in particular, kept me on the edge of my seat!

Great Thriller

A tough subject but well portrayed. Enjoyed the chase as the crime reporter chased her story in spite of the incompetent detective assigned to the case.

It's just a formula

One T.R. Ragan book is exactly like another T.R. Ragan book. Two stars, because it put me to sleep.

Ok series

For a hotshot investigative reporter she sure is slow to figure things out. Hard to believe.
