About this listen

In March of 2002, while the eyes of the world focused on Afghanistan, Jack Noble finds himself on the outskirts of Baghdad, Iraq. A Marine in name only, Jack is on loan to the CIA. Normally an integral part of the team, he finds that he is nothing more than a security detail in Iraq.

Jack and his partner Bear have a run-in with four CIA special agents over the treatment of an Iraqi family. Within hours Jack and Bear are detained.

All Jack wanted was to finish his enlistment and move on with his life. All he did was intervene and save a family from unwarranted violence at the hands of four CIA agents. But he soon discovers that he did far more than intervene. He has placed himself dead square in the middle of a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of the US government.

This fast-paced political crime thriller by USA Today best-selling author L.T. Ryan will leave you burning through the minutes as Jack races to stop the conspiracy before it claims his life. Fans of Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp, and Jason Bourne should enjoy Jack Noble.

Moves too slowly

The narrator is new to me, but I like him. The storyline moves slowly, especially early on. I tired of Noble getting beat up all the time early in the book. I can hardly wait for the next chapter of books by Baldacci, Flynn, Connelly, Silva, and Lee Child. Sadly, I did not listen to all of Ryan's book.

needs a different narrator

Narrator isn't bad as a narrator, just not right for this book. Decent story, but narrator does not do military or stern or the "giving orders" voice at all. He would be fine for other books tho.

Always a new twist

This is a tip of the seat cliff hanger. Very little predictable about the story line which keeps you listening past bedtime. Main characters are enjoyable and you want to shoot all the alphabet chasers. Loved it.

Good listen

characters are good, but at times a bit stiff.
some parts of story seemed rushed, but still good enough to listen all the way through. believing that writer will smooth out as characters develop.

New series for me

This is the first book by this writer I have heard. I am hooked. it is up there with all the other Jack books I have heard. While Ryan and reached are good this Jack is more, well noble 👍

Good Story

The book was good. It remained true to the plot the whole way through. The reader was educated, but not a reader. Nuisance was lost on him and his voice never quit got the correct inflection for the moment. Also made the protagonist sound like a boy scout or choir boy reading for Mr. Roger's. just wrong for the book and character.
