About this listen

Aliens exist, the government knows, and Dan McCarthy just found the proof. When Dan McCarthy stumbles upon a folder containing evidence of the conspiracy to end all conspiracies - a top-level alien cover-up - he leaks the files without a second thought. The incredible truth revealed by Dan's leak immediately captures the public's imagination, but Dan's relentless commitment to exposing the cover-up and forcing disclosure quickly earns him some enemies in high places. For his whole life, Dan McCarthy has searched for a reason to believe. Now that he finally has one, he might soon wish he didn't.... Not Alone is a stand-alone tale of contact and disclosure for the 21st century.

What a great experience. I was repeatedly (and pleasantly) surprised by the twists and turns in this story. In my experience with Audible, a narrator's performance is just as important as the author's story. This narrator's performance was excellent and made this great story even better. I highly recommend this audio book.

Excellent story and narration

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Any additional comments?

I listen to a lot of audiobooks and rarely write a review. This book is not the best I've ever listened to or read, but I didn't want it to end because I liked the characters so much and the story had me hooked. Very fun listen

Great book

I had a lot of fun reading and listening to Falconer's Not Alone. As a public relations dealing with media stories every day, I have to say there is little fiction in Falconer's description of the PR character in the story and her dealings with the media. The story itself is amazing and filled with riddles, turns, twists, truth and the opposite... Well you'll have to experience it for yourself, but I'll tell you this: a book worth reading hands down.

Truth and PR

stand alone, great paced, kept me going back to listen, even took extra alone time on my front porch swing to listen.

great book

Enjoyable overall plot with gripping development and twists. Characters and development are interesting, however characters often act in inconsistent and unbelievable ways, perhaps just to hold the plot together.

Uneven length as well. There's times it gets stuck going deep in details that don't add much to the story.

Performance is immensely listenable. Good energy, good voices, great audio work.

Fascinating twists and turns, but uneven writing

Where does Not Alone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have been a sci fi geek since I met Tom Swift when I was ten. This book rates up there in at least the top 20 and the only reason it is not in the top 10 is that it was so vividly written I won't be able to forget it and listen again for at least two years.

Which character – as performed by James Patrick Cronin – was your favorite?

The main protagonists, as they matured through the book. I know people like this, it was very accurate and consistent in portrayal.

Any additional comments?

I am sitting here in China writing this, and I was amazed and enthralled at how accurately this author captured so many elements of what is going on today in terms of politics, diplomacy, international relations, social media and so much more. I went through this book in two days, I couldn't stop listening.

Intelligent and Compelling

Loved it! As a long book it is a great value because it keeps the listener interested and entertained. Narration is excellent and characters are believable and well-developed.

Unique and captivating take on alien visitation

Outstanding story made real by skill of the narrator. I loved the character development and came to empathize with Dan, Clark and Emma. I appreciated the twist on aliens hiding behind an alien hoax of our own making (spoiler alert).

Excellent read!!!
