About this listen

Best-selling author Ally Carter returns with an exciting standalone novel, about a girl stranded in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness with the boy who wronged her...as an assassin moves in.

Maddie and Logan were torn apart by a kidnapping attempt when they were young. They were only kids - Logan's dad was POTUS and Maddie's father was the Secret Service agent meant to guard him. The kidnappers were stopped - but Maddie was whisked off to Alaska with her father, for safety. Maddie and Logan had been inseparable...but then she never heard from him again.

Now it's a few years later. Maggie's a teenager, used to living a solitary life with her father. It's quiet - until Logan is sent to join them. After all this time without word, Maddie has nothing to say to him - until their outpost is attacked, and Logan is taken. They won't be out of the woods until they're...out of the woods, and Maddie's managed to thwart the foes and reconcile with Logan.

Teen anger, loneliness in the Alaskan wilderness

This is my kind of youth fiction! This confusing move to the middle of nowhere, estranged friends, Russian bad buys, kidnapping, escape, hunting and tracking skills, How can two kids save themselves from armed Russian mob guys! Oh, yeah, and learning to understand others, to communicate, and to forgive.

Fast enjoyable read

I really enjoyed the book. It wasn’t gory which I appreciated. Just the amount of suspense. The ending was a bit rushed, but overall a nice read and the narrator did a fantastic job.

Great read!

My daughter and I read this book together. She is 11 years old and it was rated in her reading level. The storyline was appealing to both of us. It was a great read!

The tone

I love this story yes but, the performance of the book was not as good. The reader did not keep a good tone a voice of annoyance or boredom for Maddie’s character, she just seemed... depressed. It could have been because of the narrators voice and I feel like it didn’t catch the tone as much as she needed to. But, I would definitely recommend this to other people and it was great overall.

Entertaining Read

Recommend this book if you like cheesy romance and a bit of action might I even say adventure. It’s a short listen and the performance was great.

Mandzz

Really enjoyed it! Great narration. Although, the romantic 16 year old kisses were not exactly neccessary.....

Tween family friendly

The performance was excellent. Good tween listen for my middle school kids, and not horrible to listen to in the car as a parent.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the wilderness setting really added to it, and there was just the right amount of everything.

Cute and surprising teen adventure

I have read all of Ally Carter’s books...this is my first Audible Book of her’s I have enjoyed. Brittany Pressley does a lovely job voicing the characters.
Ms Carter always gives her readers twists and turns in her stories and “Not if I Save You First” didn’t disappoint. She always makes the reader care about her characters in the first few paragraphs.
It’s a quick afternoon read, or a great way to unwind in the car.
