About this listen

A forsaken wolf princess. A new king risen to power. One opportunity to unite their broken lands and love.

Overcome by the exhaustion of her monotonous day-to-day life, all Evera wants is one fun night out. A chance to escape a rigorous work schedule that drains her of all semblance of happiness. When a mysterious portal consumes the air before her and an enigmatic, intense man pulls her through, she wonders if her wish is being granted.

As she's swept into a foreign, magical land she doesn't recognize, Evera finds herself separated from the man who pulled her there—a man who not only knew her name but seemingly everything about her.

Completely alone, Evera treks through a mountainous landscape to reach the Kingdom of Nightfall. With each step, she encounters its foreboding and mysterious qualities, making it clear that she's not on Earth anymore.

Arriving in Nightfall brings more questions than answers, though, as she discovers that not only does she have royal blood, but there's a primal magic running through her veins that allows her the ability to shift into a wolf. What startles Evera the most is to learn that she had a life in this world before—with the very man who stole her through the portal: Axel, the King of Nightfall.

Memories begin to resurface, and she quickly recalls that Axel had been the only person she trusted—the only one standing between her and the darkness of her parents' rule. But has time changed the man who once swore to protect her?

A war is waged between two kingdoms upon news of her return, and Evera is the prize.

A single question wreaks havoc in Evera's heart: Does she want to belong to anyone at the end of this?

This book contains a sweet female lead, a growly alpha wolf who would burn the world down for her, and a love so deep it will mend the rifts of their kingdom. High spice. For mature listeners.

Eight women. One sacrifice to save their kingdoms. A chance to reclaim the love they lost. Forgotten Kingdoms is a collection of full-length standalone fantasy romance novels with fated mates and a guaranteed happily ever after. With vampires, fae, shifters, and everything in between, each book features a unique heroine and her epic love story that can be enjoyed in any order. All relationship dynamics are strictly M/F.

Awful

I could not get past how absolutely horrible the two main characters were

I couldn’t make myself like either of them. I even restarted the book thinking it may have been my mood that day. Nope it was just as bad

Overall Disappointing

I've been following/listening to The Forgotten Kingdoms series, and this one is rather difficult to get through.
The story seems forced. The main characters lack chemistry, and they lack substance. They're one-dimensional without any depth. I would like to get to know the characters a little more, understand what they went through before their sacrifice, and how they lived in the human realm a bit more before they return through the veil. Axel is too brutish and demanding to the point of being a controlling, pompous ass, only occasionally taking Evera's opinions and wants into consideration. The narrator performing for him makes his speech sound as if there is an exclamation mark at the end of every phrase he utters, though admittedly he doesn't have much to work with because the dialogue is forced and vulgar: I have no problem with cursing, having a potty-mouth myself, but the amount of times the F-bomb is dropped in this story is too repetitive and doesn't really fit the situation. Evera is far too whiny, and though she sacrificed herself for her people, it seems to be her only redeeming quality. The narrator performing for her sounds nasally and whiny, her voice grates on my nerves.
There isn't enough give and take between the two characters: so what if they're "fated mates" and they have great sexual chemistry. There's gotta be something more to their relationship than Axel just "owning" Evera, locking her up for her own "safety" as if she's a prized horse. All in all, this book is a huge disappointment.
