Publisher's summary

Renowned scholar William Lane Craig offers a listenable, rich training manual for defending the Christian faith.

This concise guide is filled with sidebars and memorizable steps to help Christians stand their ground and defend their faith with reason and precision. In his engaging style, Dr. Craig offers four arguments for God's existence, defends the historicity of Jesus' personal claims and resurrection, addresses the problem of suffering, and shows why religious relativism doesn't work. Along the way, he shares his story of following God's call in his own life.

This one-stop, how-to-defend-your-faith manual will equip Christians to advance faith conversations deliberately, applying straightforward, cool-headed arguments. They will discover not just what they believe, but why they believe - and how being on guard with the truth has the power to change lives forever.

Logical Apologetics

I must, first, mention what William Lane Craig repeatedly expresses - this book must be read more than once so that its arguments can be memorized and properly understood. (Lee Strobel, author of the book’s forward, says the same.) For myself, this was difficult to read, not because of P.J. Ochlan’s narrative, but due to the debating nature of the work as a whole.

As the back of the book describes, it is a “concise training manual.” The apologetics within expects what unbelievers will argue, then, responses are spelled-out. (A generic, small example: if A is true, and B is true, then C is true.) At the end of almost each chapter is a graph with two columns: Pros and Cons, and these contain literal maps of procession during a discussion that, if properly followed defend faith in Jesus! I’ll certainly read/listen to this book again.

P.J. Ochlan did a marvelous job narrating a complicated book, with sidebars of historical information and definitions throughout its pages. The biggest hardship of anyone simply listening to the book would be the Pros and Cons graphs at the ends of chapters where a visualization is necessary to completely understand the explanations listed with numbers and letters (some of which have further breakdowns using letters and number.)

Useful for thoughtful believers (& seekers)

Interesting and informative. Good logical arguments. Textbook-like approach. Narration clear but a bit stiff - I prefer more conversational reading styles for this kind of content.

Informative, clear, helpful

Great arguments. Balance depth and simplicity given the complexity of the arguments. This balance is in keeping with the books stated purpose as well. Really want to get the physical copy and workbook now in order to study. This book is a tool for that very purpose and should be used, if able, to go to that next level.

Great Book ... Blessing from God

Great inspirational book to in-rich yourself and especially your mind with confidential rational assurance of why you believe and what you believe. This book is an amazing apologetic-al recourse loaded with logic, rational reasoning and arguments to help all of us in the body of Christ to be ready to give answers as the world is watching us going through trials and sufferings which we are all honored to suffer for the LORD Jesus Christ. (1Pet 3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:)

The Bible links v. 14 and v. 15 together. I believe that being ready to give an answer to others ... is in the context of suffering not to show off how much we know. The author communicates with authority, with clarity and also with humility as God's vessel while exploring variety of illustrations and the Biblical evidences to point us to the One that holds the breath in our nostrils. Having grown up in former Czechoslovakia under iron curtain while serving under communistic labor camp army unit for those opposing the totalitarian regime, and surviving the intellectual brain-washings of blood thirsty liberal communistic regime; makes me so thankful to God for the way the LORD uses William Lane Craig to equip us to be on guard and to sharpen our minds. Truly what a blessing. Thank you brother William.

I am very picky on what I read, the time is very precious and the most valuable thing you can give to anybody. Once you give your time away you can't take it back. This book worth every single moment of your time either listening it or reading it. It is really great amazing book.

Best Recent Audible Purchase

This audio book gives a very understandable, insightful, and logical defense of the Christian faith. The arguments presented progress from philosophical to ethical to scientific to historical, closing with a reminder of our call to be witnesses of the Gospel to all people.

Essential Beginner Apologetics

BRILLIANT book. Excellent intro to apologetics. My favorite portion covered the arguments for the existence of God. The last chapter has a couple philosophically plausible but Scripturally ambiguous ideas, but this book is solid for the beginner otherwise.

a lot packed into this amazing book

This book is packed with great information and really great applications in which to use this information. Dr Craig in this book answers why is it important to study apologetics, solid arguments to believe the Earth was created, and evidence that the the Creator is the God of the Bible. Plus the discussion on the historical accuracy of the Bible and the proof of the empty tomb round out the great subject matter of this book.
