About this listen

A senseless murder. A sizzling adventure.

Clare Westbrook is a survivor who built her law practice from sheer determination - and an unexpected inheritance. Now Clare, carrying her lover Tony Sonterra's child, has taken the biggest risk of all: saying yes to his marriage proposal and finally burying her lifelong commitment phobia. So why is fear running through her veins and haunting her dreams?

Sonterra is fired up to leave Phoenix for small-town Arizona to replace the town's missing police chief and target a lethal desert crime ring. Clare's willing to stand by her man, but her fiancé won't be the only one flirting with danger on the job: As a special investigator for the DA's office, Clare is plunged into a race to find a missing child whose mother was murdered - a hot case that puts Clare's safety and that of her unborn child on the edge. For in a place where secrets have nowhere to hide, the promise of Clare's bright future could vanish in the blink of an eye....

Linda Lael at her best.

This set of 3 surprised me. I have known Linda was a good read. But all 3 left me hanging for more.

Good Series..unanswered questions

I have now read all 3 books in the series and I enjoyed it overall, although by the end, Clare was getting on my nerves taking unnecessary risks. There are some unanswered questions left that hopefully will be resolved with another book

Awful! So tired getting bad books!

Once again I trusted reviews & the 'chosen for you' recommendations. I'm just into sappy mushy lovey dicey stories especially where the writing is " then he said, then she said, but I said..." It got a little interesting around chapter 18. There was a good story here. The premise, coyotes that prey on Mexicans, the dessert setting, the law enforcer agencies but it just didn't come together especially when finality did not even tie into story line. Ugh so much wasted money on Audible and they do NOT take returns as easily as advertised. Once again I don't believe Audible rises to the level of an NPR sponsor.
