About this listen

Never fall for your best friend.

That’s the rule. The code.

Claire Harlow always follows rules—except this one.

However, when an attack leaves both of their worlds shaken, she decides to walk away from what could have been and hide within her own shadows. Kingston Montgomery is the man who saves the day.

At least that’s what he’s always told himself—until one day he was too late.

Now he’s trying to find his purpose while also ignoring the heat between him and Claire.

When a chance blizzard changes their plans, one night turns to two…and then there’s no going back. Only the two must overcome what they thought their relationship should be and realize what it could become. Because if they don’t figure it out quickly, the spark that ignites them could burn them both.

One Night With You

Kingston and Claire were just prefect. Obviously we know Kingston from the other Montgomery books, and we meet Claire in His Second Chance since she is Phoebe’s best friend. Kingston and Claire are still dealing with the effects of events from the last few books as well as their feelings. I love all these books so much. The way Carrie Ann Ryan writes hooks me in and I don’t want to leave. I also love the way she ties the next book into the current one, because I always leaves me so excited.

Great story!

Kingston and Claire went through a horrific ordeal together. Several months later, Claire still has nightmares about the night she was stabbed. Being too much into her head, she begins to avoid Kingston. When she finds out he's home recovering from donating his marrow for a friend suffering from cancer, she goes to visit and apologizes for her behavior. Getting their friendship back on track, they begin to spend more time together and their attraction towards one another only gets stronger.

A planned vacation with friends turns into Claire and Kingston being stranded alone together in a cabin in the mountains. They give into the chemistry and attraction towards one another and spend a hot and sexy night together. This is the beginning of their HEA they never seen coming.

Great narration by Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder. Carrie Ann never disappoints.

Full of emotion

Full of emotion, this book did not disappoint. I freaking loved it and of course did not put it down.. Kingston and Claire are two of those characters that we just want together. Claire almost died once and the PTSD from that event is keeping her from living. Mix a snowed in event with close proximity and things heat up with these two. Is it enough to help Claire put what happened behind her? Is it enough to quiet the nightmares? Well we know there is an HEA because hello... all the Montgomerys deserve one. This includes a man who cannot figure out he is in love with his best friend.
I both read and listened to this book. The audio made it come to life and I caught things that I missed while reading.

One Night With You

Another good story in the Montgomery Ink Legacy series. I loved getting to see the way Kingston and Claire’s relationship takes shape. The two make a good couple and their chemistry really shines. Their story moves at a good pace and has a nice mix of sweet and sexy. Narrators Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder do a wonderful job of bringing out the emotions in these characters. I was quickly pulled in to the story and entertained all the way to the end.

Emotional and romantic!

Oh how I’ve been waiting for this story since the last book! “One Night with You” is a romantic, emotional and sweet friends to lovers romance that was a fantastic addition to the series.

After an attack that left both of them shaken to their core, Claire Harlow and Kingston Montgomery have still remained friends but have been distant from each other. Both are still trying to process and move on from that night. But when a planned getaway with friends ends up in a snowstorm and with them alone together, the chemistry they have finally comes to the surface. Now that the line has been crossed, they have to figure out what their future could be.

When a Montogomery is involved, you’re always guaranteed a swoony and romantic time. In the previous book, you could already feel the chemistry that was between these two. It was just simmering under the surface and I couldn't wait for it to boil over. Claire has a thriving business, a big heart but under was a woman still trying to overcome the past. She was working hard to rein in the feelings she was going through and keeping Kingston at arm’s length wasn’t helping. I loved Kingston and everything he stood for. He had the urge to protect and being a part of the security side of the family was the best fit for him. And after what they went through together, wanting to protect and care for Claire became second nature for him. I loved their connection and they just fit so well together. The blizzard was exactly what they needed to bring them together finally. I loved all the scenes with the rest of the family and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder were absolutely amazing as Kingston and Claire. Teddy’s performance was protective and passionate like Kingston. Emma’s narration was caring, vulnerable and she was the perfect choice to bring Claire to life.

Emma Wilder & Teddy Hamilton are pure perfection

Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder were absolutely amazing voicing Kingston and Claire. They were actually perfect.
A snowstorm left them stranded in a cabin and one thing leads to another and next thing you know they are navigating through what they are together. Both battling their own demons. Claire is still reeling from her attack and Kingston continues to struggle with his not being there or failing. Together they help each other. And during their “time” the rest of the Montgomery’s already see what’s happening 😉 Carrie Ann knows how to bring out all the feels with her writing. So sit back and enjoy with a side of your favorite cheese. 🤣

My new favorite

I received this as an arc/alc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was probably my favorite book by this author ever. I love the friends to lovers trope and when it’s combined with a forced proximity trope then it’s hard to go wrong. The story was really well written and it had some fantastic steamy bits but also some really heartbreaking moments. Kingston was just dreamy and I loved his chemistry with Claire. It was just such a wonderful story and I really didn’t want it to end.

Audiobook review: It was a fantastic audiobook, it was so well narrated and I got completely lost in the story and I was sad every time I had to take out my earphones because I didn’t want to let the story go. But I will say that it should have come with a warning not to listen to it on your way to work if you’re prone to getting teary eyed by a book.

4.5 stars!

Claire and Kingston have been circling each other for a while. They are attracted to each other but haven't acted on it. Kingston had felt guilty for not getting there on time when Claire and Phoebe were attacked. After all, it's his profession to protect. Their friend/family group is spending a weekend at the Montgomery cabin, except a sudden snowstorm prevents everyone else from making the trip. Claire and Kingston are stuck. Things get hot and steamy, permitting themselves to enjoy each other for one night. Claire and Kingston both have things to work through. They can't move forward without diving deep into themselves to love each other freely. I appreciate how the author gave the characters the space and time to figure out what they wanted and realize they were meant to be together. Emma Wilder and Teddy Hamilton brought these characters and their story to life. The narrators got me emotionally invested in Claire and Kingston's happily ever after.

I received an advance copy of the audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.
