About this listen

The Survivors' Club: Six men and one woman, injured in the Napoleonic Wars, their friendships forged in steel and loyalty. But for one, her trials are not over.... Since witnessing the death of her husband during the wars, Imogen, Lady Barclay, has secluded herself in the confines of Hardford Hall, their home in Cornwall. The new owner has failed to take up his inheritance, and Imogen desperately hopes he will never come to disturb her fragile peace.

Percival Hayes, Earl of Hardford, has no interest in the wilds of Cornwall, but when he impulsively decides to pay a visit to his estate there, he is shocked to discover that it is not the ruined heap he had expected. He is equally shocked to find the beautiful widow of his predecessor's son living there. Soon Imogen awakens in Percy a passion he has never thought himself capable of feeling. But can he save her from her misery and reawaken her soul? And what will it mean for him if he succeeds?

I liked this better than the last one

This was quite good but then I love the series. I found this more enjoyable than the preceding book. The narration is pretty much perfect.

I've been waiting for Imogen's story and it was a sad but good one. A few twists. I thought the last chapters were a bit rushed but, overall, this was another hit.

Now on to the final book in the series. Sad to see it end.

Another Enjoyable One in the series

Another excellent book in the Survivor series. Enjoyed Imogen's story and never guessed until the reveal over what had been her experience in the war. A little mystery and suspense with the smuggling, lots of romance and some humour and wisdom. Narration perfect!

My favorite of the survivors story’s!

This book had me laughing and crying. I love this couple and their love story. And of course my favorite narrator Rosalyn Landor reads it. Great story. ❤️

Snuck Up On Me

I didn't like it at first. Bunch of stuffy nasal pretentious British jerks sitting around their gross men's club being snooty and obnoxious. Which kicks off my only lasting criticism of this audio book, the narrator's voice for Percy. She makes him sound like a ridiculous milquetoast.

But not long after I met Imogen I got more interested, and then it went in directions that run-of-the-mill romance books don't. I love the period attention to detail, and while the voice thing meant I never really fell for Percy, I sure did for Imogen.

Great listen!

Very happy to have found this on sale. The plot had an unexpected twist and Rosalyn Landor's acting of the intense scenes was exquisite.

Captivating

I have been waiting for Imogene's story, and it was well worth the wait. Listened to this one straight through as Rosalyn Landor's performance and Mary Balogh writing were outstanding. Witty, poignant, engaging, well developed characters confronting the unexpected. There is romance, intrigue, humor, excellent supporting characters and a host of animals given unique personalities. I like that the H and h do not disengage their brains when the romance begins,(as often seems to happen in many stories in this genre) but Percy and Imogene continue to embrace their capacity to reexamine the past and redefine themselves for the future they need. Both become stronger individually and together to the benefit of all around them. Be warned, this one may cause one to ask "what would I do in that situation?'

Good read

I like that it wasn't the same old Ton kind of romance. Rosalyn narrated wonderfully.

Sad, happy and excitingly shocking.

Love story that transcends death, intruige, lies and self punishment. Shinning beacons of hope for those who see love as for only once and only those worthy.

Mary Balogh at her best

This whole series has been excellent. Plenty of laughs and tears, and all the charm of a story well told.

PLZ PLZ LISTEN TO ALL OF "THE SURVIVORS CLUB!" No regrets!!

Simply beauiful-each 1, different & touching! For anyone like me who has been deeply hurt in _____ wayķs), & dreams of a "happily ever after" - you WILL most definitely find it in this series! EVERY character is amazing & heart-breaking...& to see them find their true love is simply beautiful! VEEY WELL WRITTEN & NARRATED! A bit of love-making, but for the most part can be heard by even Christians as after all, it is God's gift between husband & wife. Not "junky." Judt sweet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL - START TO END!!
