I loved reading the book so I knew I would enjoy this. Tod Scott did a fabulous job of bringing H. J. Perry's vision to life. Conner and Lee were already sexy and hot and listening to them made them more so. I love this series so much. When I listen to a story I have already read I'm able to imagine the characters even more vividly. Plus, there are things that you might of missed or not placed as much importance on that you should have. This is one you'll want to listen to again and again.

This audiobook is a book 1 and 2 of The SHS Series. What an engrossing book the writing was fantastic. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters wonderful. The characters were well developed and thought out. The characters are engaging their emotions can be felt through the story. Lee and Conner are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, family, friends, workmates, hiding, secrets, a Christmas party, traveling, surprises, a hospital, hot steamy moments as well and so much more in this book.

I can’t say that I was impressed with the narration it was average. Although he did attempt to change the tempo of his voice and show emotion so it wasn’t monotone. It was good enough that it didn’t detract from the story too much. His accent fit in the story line.

Here is a quote from Our Secret Wedding, “But Lee had never seen the room look like this. Flowers overwhelmed him. Colorful, floral displays were in every direction. “Having a clear out at a local florist?” Lee’s mouth spoke, but he instantly regretted sharing his thoughts. Connor glanced at him from the kitchen area and looked away as if a little embarrassed.”. And here is one from Our Secret Christmas, “Connor, however, found it quite funny now he understood the joke, but the time for laughing had passed. “You didn’t mention going to the Duck and Donkey or meeting up with friends,” Lee said. “Being a rather dull, almost married, stay-at-home couple ourselves, we didn’t know about the stripper night until about an hour ago.”. There is more but you will need to listen to the book which I can highly recommend.

I would loosely compare this with Odin Nightshade's First Time Bareback Cowboy's series. It has the same sweetness in the romance and most of the angst is over what friends, family, and coworkers will think.

What about Tod Scott’s performance did you like?

Scot did a good job with the emotions of the story and was consistent in the different voices throughout.

Both stories were interesting and engaging. I'm not sure if it was the story itself or the way it was narrated, but there were times that it felt like some chapters ended a bit abruptly. Other than that, the flow was good and kept me listening.

Would you consider the audio edition of Our Secret Wedding: Our Secret Christmas to be better than the print version?

no.. i will always love print more but the audio adds some fun and intrique into it you don't get from something without a "voice"

all of them.. i loved how the narrator makes each character pop for me

the emotions.. the feelings..

This is a steamy listen and Tod Scott has a great voice for this story, he keeps it authentic sounding.
H.J. Perry writes with a clear voice and a great sense of humor. This story is both fun and interesting especially as it gives another perspective to many issues. He made me stop and think about knowing who you are and being able to be up front about who you love.
Connor is a romantic who makes all the right moves and finally convinces Lee he is serious when he plans a surprise trip to Gretna Green to propose. They plan it all and keep it secret from all the guys at work not thinking they would be accepted in the construction industry. They are surprised by the response of the workers and family when Connors accident outs them both and they are accepted without a blink of anyone's eye.

I received a credit from the author to purchase the audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I’m a big fan of audiobooks, so when H.J. Perry offered a credit in exchange for reviews of her new audiobooks I happily volunteered. H.J. Perry is a new to me author and I’m always looking to add to my list. Audible book review: The book was narrated by Tod Scott. By the sound of his voice, he’s English, which I thought was awesome (because I have a *thing* for accented voices). Not expecting that, it did take me by surprise but soon I settled in to listen. I thought Tod Scott did a great job with all the voices. All the characters were distinct to my ears. The pitch and tone were good. There were a few female voices characterized and they did not sound overly false or too high pitched. Mr. Scott has a great voice and I wouldn’t mind re-listening to this and listening to other audiobooks he’s narrated.Book Review: This audiobook contains two stories; Our Secret Wedding, the main story and Our Secret Christmas, which is a short novella. Our Secret Wedding is a friends to lovers story where you meet Lee, who is gay and Connor who is straight but has a slight attraction to men that he’s never acted on. Connor and Lee have been friends for a long time and Lee works at Connor’s family company. One night changes the dynamic between Connor and Lee which starts something between them. As their relationship moves from friends to lover there is a variety of thoughts, exchanges and actions that keep the story moving forward at a good pace. The “drama” near the end seemed a little anticlimactic but it still worked. Our Secret Christmas was just a little confusing. At times it seemed like a prequel to OSW rather than a continuation. They still were good reads and I enjoyed them enough that I will check out other books in the series.This review is also posted to Goodreads.

I read this as an ebook just over a year ago when it first came out. When Ms. Perry asked if I'd like to review the audio I jumped at the chance. Below is my original review with some added thoughts for the narration.

I very much enjoyed Tod Scott's performance of this book. I love the different voices he did for each character. I will be looking for more narrations by him.

Our Secret Wedding:
The friends-to-lovers trope is one of my favorites whether it be M/M, M/F or any other combination.

Connor and Lee were friends in school and now Lee works for the company owned by Connor’s father. One night Connor sees Lee kissing another man and that changed everything for him. He’s had feelings for Lee for a long time that go beyond friendship but he always thought that Lee is straight. He’s also been perfectly happy dating women but considers himself bi-sexual.

After Connor sees “the kiss” everything changes for him and he knows that he wants to pursue Lee as more than a friend. He doesn’t go about it in quite the right way, though and it puts Lee off. Connor begs for the chance to start over and thus begins his courtship of Lee.

The romance between Connor and Lee is slow to build – Lee can’t believe that Connor is doing anything other than experimenting – but once things take off there is a lot of heat and hot, sexy time! Connor is such a romantic man! He plans a big surprise for Lee and it turns out wonderful.

I really enjoyed reading this. I felt like there was a real connection between Connor and Lee and I loved following the development of their feelings for each other.

Our Secret Christmas:
I loved this "bonus" story about Connor and Lee. This story takes place during the same time frame as Our Secret Wedding but contains scenes that weren't in the original story. It's kind of a "behind the scenes" for what happened in Our Secret Wedding. It was great to learn more details about these two guys.

For a book about in-the-closet character and secret relationships, this book was a lot more fluffy and fun than I expected. There was angst, but it was quickly resolved. I really enjoyed the development of the relationship between the two main characters. They were not only sexy and hot, but their love was sweet and intense. The way they put each other first and supported each other was refreshing to have in a secret romance.

The main story happens in Our Secret Wedding, which details how the two main characters get together, get married, and finally come out to family and friends. Our Secret Christmas is more like a side story that fills in the gap between the characters moving in together and getting married. Overall, I enjoyed these books.

The plot is cute, but the timeline jumps too much for a cohesive story. Then the second book takes place, time wise, in the middle of the first.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one by Helen J. Perry! The main characters were likeable and engaging...the plot was fun and interesting and the narrator was fantastic ! I am looking forward to both listening to other books by this narrator and reading books by Ms. Perry!
