When Ball Four was published in 1970, it created a firestorm. Bouton was called a Judas, a Benedict Arnold and a “social leper” for having violated the “sanctity of the clubhouse.” Baseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn tried to force Bouton to sign a statement saying the book wasn’t true. Ballplayers, most of whom hadn’t read it, denounced the book. It was even banned by a few libraries. Almost everyone else, however, loved Ball Four.

The great gathering that will be.
This book is a great resource for living off the land in the North West region. It is very detailed about what is edible and what to stay away from.... I tried a couple of the recipes and they are quite tasty. I guide for anyone camping or living off the grid.

Fantastic Listen
I have always been interested in learning basic skills that would come in handy to be a little more self-sufficient, and this book blew my mind. The author was very thorough and explained things at a beginner level. I also love the section that discussed the health benefits of foraging—a joy to listen to.

Amazingly healthy taste!
Amazing! I and my wife loved that book. Such interesting and healthy recipies. I opened something new. My family loves that kind of healthy food that nature can share with you. There are very detailed explanations and recipes that make this book so enjoyable. I love tea, and this book gives so many other options for adding ingredients from nature. It also provides you with places where you can get those flowers or plants, so your trip will be filled with more interesting activities and knowledge, putting you one step ahead in living a healthy lifestyle.

Perfect for beginners
Overall good lesson. Found a lot of useful information. Really enjoyed the recipes at the end that maybe you are a little more abstract sounding due to the ingredients but excited to try them! Narration was just a bit slow for me so I did increase the speed.

Thorough and enjoyable listen
I love how thorough this book is. I have often worried about foraging and being sure not to harvest anything poisonous. This book does a great job at helping to distinguish between edible and poisonous plants as well as details on how to ethically harvest plants. With this I won’t have to worry about what is safe to forage and it has recipes so I can put my harvest to use. Highly recommend.

Great Resource For Harvesting.
With the current pandemic and supply chain issues America is facing right now, I have been looking for a good harvesting book like this to show me what to harvest and how to do it properly so you can better the environment. It also tells you about common poisonous plants, and how to find out if a plant is poisonous. Great book!

Foraging noob before this audiobook...
Thanks, Paul for this great audiobook. The choice of the narrator was excellent, he makes listening to this audiobook an outstanding journey. I live in Canada and there is a lot of common vegetation with the Pacific Northwest. One of my favorite chapters was how to identify poisonous plant look-alikes.
I recommend this book for all foraging noobs like me or to those who like to spend time hiking or walking through the forest and don't want to get a skin reaction when in contact with a poisonous plant. Knowing your plants is extremely important!

Call me SURVIVAL MAN!
Okay, this was a really cool book!! As a person that was a huge fan of guys like Survival Man, Crocodile Dundee, etc I was always infatuated by the concept of self-sufficiency and living off natural earth. Paul really gives a great understanding that's practical that you can apply when it comes to being able to decipher & consume wild food! For sure is going to be one I'm going to have to listen to a couple of times over that way it sticks in my head like a great song! If you ever wondered about self-sufficiency use a credit and grab this one now!
