Publisher's summary

Picture respectful, responsible, obedient children who entertain themselves without television or video games, do their own homework, and have impeccable manners. A pie-in-the-sky fantasy? Not so, says family psychologist and best-selling author John Rosemond. Any parent who so desires can grow children who fit that description - happy, emotionally healthy children who honor their parents and their families with good behavior and do their best in school.

In the 1960s, American parents stopped listening to their elders when it came to child rearing and began listening instead to professional experts. Since then, raising children has become fraught with anxiety, stress, and frustration. The solution, says John, lies in raising children according to biblical principles, the same principles that guided parents successfully for hundreds of years. They worked then, and they still work now!

Through his nationally syndicated newspaper column and 11 books, John has been helping families raise happy, well-behaved children for more than 30 years. In Parenting by the Book, which John describes as both a "mission and a ministry," he brings parents back to the uncomplicated basics.

More parents need to read this.

Learn to lead your children instead of being led by them. shocker but their children. by definition they don't know what is best for them. Be the adult. don't demand. command. Learn to measure success differently. not through worldly accolades but by a good and honest spirit and a moral and just heart. 10/10. would read again.

AMAZING

The difference this book made in my family’s life is unbelievable. My two year old is like a different child in the best way. I was so confused about what the right way to parent was. Between social media, the news, and other people’s opinions, I was at a loss. This book helped me to find my way at just the right time and learn how to be the leader my son needs. I would give it 100 stars if I could.

My parenting will change because of this book. I will not need to look for another parenting book. The narrator was also incredible with his delivery!

The Time Is Now

Question: When is the best time to plant an oak tree?
Answer: 30 years ago

Question: When is the second best time?
Answer: Today!

As a father of seven, ranging from 4yrs to 25yrs old as of 01/2023 I can only say I wish I would have had this wisdom shared with me 25 yrs ago. That being said, I am so happy to have it now in my hands so that I may be the best disciple maker.

P.S. Parenting doesn't stop when they leave the nest, let alone when they start giving us grandbabies.

I’m thankful I read this book while my children are still toddlers. I couldn’t agree more with the teachings of this author.
