About this listen

Today's parents have been sold a bill of goods on so-called "quality time." They've been led to believe that children require constant attention. Psychologist John Rosemond knows that being a good parent is really about helping children get out of their lives! His easy-to-follow plan will start parents and children on the road to happiness and self-esteem by explaining how to: put marriage first, expect children to obey, establish responsibility by assigning chores, encourage creativity by minimizing TV viewing, and more. By practicing Rosemond's simple plan, parents can free themselves from guilt, exhaustion, and anger - and free their children to lead happy, responsible lives of their own.Original Material ©1985 John K. Even if you don't necessarily agree with his views, a very thought provoking examination of the mother-father/wife-husband relationships, toys and I especially liked his views on television. This book is worth it just to hear about why parents should not necessarily feel good about letting their kids watch "educational" programs between the ages of 2-6 (so much for Baby Einstein!).

This is one of the best parenting books I have ever read. Every parent should read this. Mr. Rosemond will not be for everybody, especially for the more permissive parents, but he gives important and bracing advice that is grounded in common sense and traditional values. I ordered the hardback version of this book so I could underline it and remember it.

Every parent should read this book

John Rosemund is an excellent parenting coach. I've read several of his books. His approach is common sense, no-nonsense and practical. I definitely recommend this book for all parents.

Outstanding advice for all parents.

Good common sense. It's stuff that's on the surface but unrecognizable as the source of behavioral problems. He gives good examples of how to make changes.

Great suggestions

This is a very useful book, and read well by the author. It gives good, practical techniques for steering your kids to be useful, helpful, cooperative, and on the road to self-sufficiency. Especially enlightening was the advice on keeping an emphasis on the marriage relationship, as it serves as a model for your kids' views on marital relationships.

Great book

The book made so much sense to me. It's meant to be about raising children but it also teaches to be healthy (mentally and emotionally) adults. They should teach this in school. Very easy to listen.

Should read before having children

Bravo. Very good perspective on child rearing that makes sense - a family that revolves around the marriage, and not a marriage that revolves around the kids.

Lots of Good Sense!

This book is excellent. Every parent should read it. It’s classic good common sense parenting. More people should read it and implement it in their lives. Your kids will thank you!
