About this listen

Angie Turner, chef at Idaho's finest farm-to-table restaurant, has organized a team-building event at a haunted prison, only to find a real-life murderer in their midst....

Contented employees make for a successful restaurant, which is why the County Seat's crew goes on a quarterly out-of-office meeting. This time, the location is the Old Idaho Penitentiary near the Boise Foothills, a prison brimming with ghostly lore. The lock-in features actors role-playing as guards, fascinating prison stories...and an unscripted murder.

Who sentenced one of the faux guards to a very authentic death? Angie, her boyfriend, and the County Seat gang are locked in with a killer - excellent motivation for a little sleuthing. Between ghostly apparitions and flesh-and-blood suspects, Angie's plate is full, but will her luck, and her life, hold out until the gates reopen at dawn?

Easy listening mystery while gardening or quilting... hard to put down, even for sleeping. Thank you Cahoon.

I love your stories! I love the short ones but do not like that audible charges a whole credit for them. Love you! Not happy with Audible! Keep writing! I listened to another series of yours and was so happy to find other series you have written.

Love the story but not happy about it costing a whole credit.

I really just don’t like the main character I guess, but the plot lines are very similar in each book
There’s a murder angie whines about how she doesn’t want to be involved, then sticks her nose in anyway. After asking to many questions the murderer tries to kill her and she miraculously escapes. The end. No tying up all loose ends, just the end. Sorry. This book is good. I like that all characters participate this time

I liked this better then her longer books

Great cozy mystery. Both the author Lyn Cahoon and the narrator Susan Boyce kept me invested from the first chapter. With a number of twists and turns and a result I didn’t see coming, I was hooked.

The characters are easy to relate to and you quickly become invested in their story. Cannot wait to read and or listen to more from this author.

Entertaining cozy mystery

A team building accident is taking place at the old state prison. They are locked in for the night as actors play the role of guards. Two of the couples are newly weds who share a ghost buster hobby. When one of the guards is killed they know they are trapped with a killer. Fun short story.

I normally love Lynn Cahoon, and have listened to almost all of her other books. I am not sure if she gets a ghost writer for these shorter books or not, but they are never very good. This one is particularly bad. It takes place in a prison that is rented out for the night for scary tours and overnight stays. So the "cozy" part of this cozy is NOT cozy. All the characters are put into this unfamiliar, bleak environment (I can't imagine why anyone would want to stay the night in a prison if they didn't have to!) and of course a murder happens. The guy who is murdered was the only one with a phone, and that goes missing. Why they don't have an emergency phone anywhere is unimaginable (what if there was a medical emergency?) and they are all locked in till the morning. The characters don't seem to be written like they are for the longer books. There are a bunch of characters who are unfamiliar who drive the story, and it is hard to keep them all straight. It is bleak and depressing. Just what I need to read in a pandemic.

Terrible!
