About this listen

A race against the clock....

The most lethal virus in history has begun its spread to the mainland US. Fast-spreading and with the ability to take over the host's immune system, the pathogen seems unstoppable.

A fight for survival....

Dr. Samantha Bower of the Centers for Disease Control has encountered the virus before, and it nearly cost her her life. Now, with the disease spreading among the civilian population at an incredible pace, the military has stepped in and declared martial law.

Dr. Bower's own sister is caught in the middle when she is apprehended in the quarantine zone. Samantha must fight not only the worst nature has to offer, but her own government as well if she wishes to save her family.

A looming threat....

A mysterious man is killing those who could stop the virus. Leaving a trail of bodies in his wake, his motivations are unclear. And he has chosen a new target: Samantha Bower.

NOT QUITE

I kept waiting for something definitive once the viral threat had been established. Nothing did... one after another the effect of the virus on those affected was described. I found it boring and decided not to finish the book. I think it could have been better and a different reader would also be beneficial.

Great follow up to Plague, but…

So I love Victor Methos books, but I don’t like the narrator switches between books. I did not love this narrator. It’s amazing how listening to books changes my expectations on the types of books I like to listen to. This was definitely a good follow up to book 1, the Plague, but there were a few plot gaps (like what happened to her boss’ voice mail from book 1)! Also, I find the characters’ behaviors a bit naive now that we have been amidst a covid pandemic for 1.5 years and counting. I wish I could listen to book 3, but I can’t find it on audible yet.

Pestilence

Incredibly told story. Please stop animal testing! We put animals in cages, and destroy
them in the name of science and medicine. We act as though they feel no pain. We turn our backs on their cries of pain. We must be better than that.

Grusome and VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING,!

it is a good story but very gruesome and detailed right down to the vomit so I don't recommend it to weak stomachs. A very real apocalyptic scenario that will make you have nightmares! I liked the book but hated the redundant and explicitly detailed gross descriptions of the tragic deaths.

Ending is a big dud.

Jumps around too much & the ending was a big dud...Have enjoyed the other books I've read by this author.

Horrid

This book goes no where, it starts knowing almost nothing about the virus and ends knowing nothing more about the virus or who is behind it.
