Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. First Time
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I loved this book. I never really read any Beatrix Potter books as a child so the characters were mostly new to me (minus the special collectible 50 pence pieces) and they were when wonderful. The language made it feel slightly dated, but not enough so that I wouldn't want to listen again.
The narrator, Laurel Schroeder, was amazing. She modulated her voice for each character and she was amazing.

Blast from the past!
**I was given this audio book for free from Audiobook Boom and the narrator for a honest review.**
This collection contains Beatrix Potter's most beloved tales of Peter Rabbit and his friends. The stories are arranged in order of original publication, and although each story stands on its own, several are interconnected. "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" "The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin" "The Tailor of Gloucester" "The Tale of Benjamin Bunny" "The Tale of Two Bad Mice" "The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy Winkle" "The Pie and the Patty Pan" "The Tale of Mr Jeremy Fisher" "The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit" "The Story of Miss Moppet" "The Tale of Tom Kitten" "The Tale of Jemima Puddle Duck"
"The Roly Poly Pudding" "The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies" "Ginger and Pickles" "The Tale of Mrs Tittlemouse" "The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes"
Have you ever wanted to revisit your childhood's favorite Beatrix Potter books? Well here they are! Each book can be a stand alone but all together in this collection, the world of Peter Rabbit comes to life. This audio book is great for children, with each book being its own chapter it makes for an excellent bedtime treat or even an afternoon activity especially if you already own the set of books.
Laurel Schroeder does an amazing job voicing all the different characters from Potter's creation. Since Potter herself was an English writer it is only befitting that Schroeder represents the country side and characters with a British accent.
Peter Rabbit and Other Stories would be a great addition to anyone's library, but should be a favorite bedtime addition for any child!

Classic stories, great narration!
I grew up reading the Beatrix Potter books and thought that Laurel Schroeder did such a fantastic job with the various characters. Her performance brought back many happy memories I had reading the book with my Grandmother. I think this collection of stories is great to listen to when one is in a reminiscent mood or with small children. The stories length are perfect to keep young children engaged and are quite original.

Ageless Stories for Listeners of All Ages
Note that I was provided a copy of this book by its narrator in return for an honest review.
I suspect the confines of Mr. McGregor's garden are as well known to us as they are to the fictional Peter Rabbit. There are doubtless scores of film adaptations of Ms. Potter's personalized characters romping about in a variety of natural places. But no visual adaptation can ever be as good as is this narration.
Laurel Schroeder breathes so much life and vibrant vivid vocal color into these delightful rabbits, mice, cats, and squirrels that abound in this book that they will be unforgettable. Schroeder's British accent is absolutely BBC-authentic. I'm usually rather critical of non-Brits doing a British accent, but there's nothing to criticize about this performance. It is amazingly authentic as nearly as I can tell. What's more, she never slips out of character even once. Every syllable is performed with the right accent--a reflection of the professionalism and discipline of the narrator for sure.
It has been literally decades since I visited the famous garden and feared for young Peter Rabbit's life. Some of the stories included here are stories I've never heard, and they were wonderful. Schroeder even manages to add some vocal delight when she sings the little songs sung by the various woodsy creatures who inhabit these stories.
Aside from the top-flight narration, which you don't want to miss, the stories themselves are excellent tools to teach the very young about values and absolutes that are far from dated. I was mildly surprised by some of the violence that happens in these stories. In one, an animal is scratched and cuffed. In another story, a poor squirrel, falsely accused of digging up nuts belonging to others, is forcefully shoved down a hole in a tree--a hole into which he does not fit easily or without some pain. But the lessons taught are life gems, and Laurel Schroeder's narration brings those gems to an uncommon luster very much worthy of your Audible credit and time to listen.

Timeless tales of wonder for all ages
Be ready to be transported back to when you were a child and relive the tales of amazing animals and their wondrous adventures. I shared these stories with my children as a parent and shared this audio version with my new grandson who was thrilled to the narrators voice and the tale told. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Lovely Narration of Beatrix Potter's Classic Tales
I'm ashamed to admit I haven't read most of these lovely little tales before, and I'm glad to have them all in one place. This version contains 17 of Beatrix Potter's stories, and can be enjoyed all at once or spread out over a few week's worth of bedtimes. These stories are really meant to be read aloud. Beatrix Potter's illustrations are beautiful, but I enjoyed this audiobook with only her simple words to draw the pictures.
Laurel Schroeder is an excellent choice as the voice actor, she read them as I'd imagine Beatrix Potter herself would have. She has a lovely cultured accent for the regular narration, and gives each mouse or squirrel their own piping little voice. She handles the rhymes and riddles so well, they brought a smile to my face each time. My favorite was The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin with his silly sing song riddles.
I was provided a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I would listen to a classic by this narrator again.

A Classic Book for Muliple Generations!
This audio book came at a Prime Time!
This weekend, my older sister surprised my dad with a visit to celebrate his 73rd birthday. This orchestrated maneuver also included her meeting my son's newest daughters with this occasion hosted at my home.
The almost toddler and new infant listened to Laurel's tales. My kitten curled up and watched us as well.
After everyone had left, my older sister and I chatted as more tales were narrated.
Of course, we ran out to the store and ransacked the children's books to find more books we had enjoyed as children- and when we were new moms!
The 'new' parents had begged us to not buy anymore clothes (I promise we didn't go overboard!) but they didn't say anything about books!
Laurel was magical for my granddaughters. And nostalgic for two sisters.
I would recommend this audio book to anyone of any age.
