Publisher's summary

Only by binding others to me shall I gain power....

All aboard the hype train for the latest MMORPG Aerda Online!

As an early backer, I get to play the Phylomancer, a mage class that masters spells by bonding with companions.

But little did I expect this game would suck me in unlike any other....

Now, I face the savage Beastfolk, poised to overrun the wild north of Aerda. I’ll need to find my companions, bind them to me, and with their help become the master of the elements.

If I don’t, the North will fall.

Disclaimer: This LitRPG harem fantasy adventure for men is part one of three in a completed series.

It features:

  • A pure mage-class MC who gets Isekai’d from Seattle into an MMORPG!
  • An icy northern Priestess (although there are ways to get her to warm up...)
  • A sweet but fierce Elven Ranger
  • Beastfolk, Fauns, Satyrs, and an Ogre that meet the business end of the MC’s fire and ice magic!
  • Forests, mead halls, medieval hamlets, and dungeon crawling in a rich, Viking-inspired setting
  • Crunchy game mechanics inspired by tabletop RPGs, including skill checks, level-based character progression, stats, spell descriptions, loot, and all the LitRPG goodness that comes with them!

Great story

No sugar coating here. More realistic (in a sense) where not everyone survives. Can’t wait for the next book

You wanted it, you got it!

Amazing story that not only is very entertaining makes you really think in your life. Nothing can say harem more than the Phylomancer, and yet the story flows well and it is very catching that you just want to keep listening! The narrator is awesome as well! All done by one awesome woman and it hits the nail, they should do more with them as main narrators of they are as good as her! Definitely should give it a try!

Check This One Out

Right up front before you read any further just know that I recommend this book to anybody thinking about giving it a shot. A little context for my review. I tend to take it easy on the first and last book of any series as not every series makes it to “The End” and the first of anything can be a shaky endeavor. I also try to make clear the distinction between the quality of the writing/performance of the author/narrator and my personal tastes should they differ. As I understand it, this author has been writing for some time and does so under another name besides this one. The gentleman appears to favor lighter shorter stories that are what they are and make no apologies about them. His bio says that he's inspired by cultivation, progression fantasy, GameLit, etcetera. The writing is solid as far as I'm concerned, and it achieves the goal of being entertaining in my opinion. The main character appears to be an associate in a law practice with disposable income who is excited to play this new ultra-realistic MMO and has his gamer snacks all ready. Our hero favors playing a lawful good character and ends up apparently stuck in the game with other human players. The class that our hero plays has him bonding to two women in the first book with the first lady being taken captive during the first fight. His class is something special in comparison to the other players as he's an early adopter of the game. There are spicy scenes and sexy female armor with the fantasy races represented throughout this story. Our hero gets a chance to go home but this is a trilogy and we've got two more books to go. There's a question as to whether or not the characters will separate at the ending of book 1 but you'll have to buy the story to find out. If you get to the end of this book and can't wait for the next audio release, then I've got good news for you as books two and three are currently available in eBook form. I also want to take the time to recommend another series by this author that you should definitely check out which is the “Apocalypse Cultivator” series. The series has been completed and is available in both audio and eBook form. Next, I cannot leave this review without mentioning the amazing performance by narrator Erin Bateman. I believe the first time I came across this lady narrator was in the “Survival of the Fittest” series and I've never seen her do less than an amazing job. Lastly, I'll just say well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us, the Audible listeners.

Nope

This book isn't for me at all. It is like the listeners are the bratty younger siblings watching the older kids play axis and allies. Since I didn't even make it to chapter 2 I gave 3 stars the narrator does good work and got 4.

A pleasant surprise!

Before buying the book I thought it would be a typical litrpg story with the usual cliché. I was wrong, the book actually used the DnD 5e rules in a way that made the story come to life. I'm also fond of the Warlock or summoner class and the MC's unique class is basically a modified Warlock class, This book is well worth the price, and I look forward to enjoying the next book.

DnD feel.

The story is pretty cool and fun for the most part. But I will give a heads up that there is a big DnD feel and style to it. And what I mean, is there is an actually well thought out system for “rolls” and “checks.”
I wasn’t heavily into DnD growing up and hearing go on during life and death struggles is a little… weird to me. But like I said, it is well thought out and done well if you like it.

The MC and his woman are likable. They actually have some depths to them and not just there for the male fantasy. The story isn’t mind blowing but not all stories can be. Otherwise they would be pretty boring.
The main bad guy does inspire extreme “cringe-worthiness,” just so you all know. Actually I’ll probably rise that right up to vehemently vileness! But I’ll shut now and let you find out for yourselves…

Erin Bateman does a marvelous job as always!

Great start

Jack does a great job creating wild stories. This one is going to be a great series. Erin does an amazing job, as always however I feel like this book deserves dual narration. It’s still a great story and well worth the listen for sure.
Plenty of action, world building and sexy times.
