Ted and Susan Merchant have been coming to the Pine Lakes resort for nearly 20 years. So Pine Lakes started a bit slow but developed pretty quickly. I’ll be honest and say I spent probably two-thirds of this story confused and the last third pretty flabbergasted and/or surprised. I couldn’t stop listening though and was surprised how quickly I finished the audiobooks. The storyline is quite different and I liked the characters even if they bugged me a smidge. I was left scratching my head in a few areas but that's why I gave it the 4 stars and not the full 5.

The narrator, Joe Hempel, is of course, one of my favorites. He’s always a delightful listen. He did get with Pine Lakes. There’s a lot of creepy, a lot of confusion. Hempel is one of my top favorite horror narrators.

Oh my word,what a book!I loved it!It reminded me of a Stephen King book. A couple heading for a holiday go off the road in my neck of the woods! Really! They encounter strange lights and stranger people while walking to find safety. Joe Hempel did a wonderful job narrating. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'
