About this listen

"I don't love you anymore."

For Charlotte Crawford, the worst part about being dumped after 20 years of marriage is that her husband, Jack, doesn't want another woman; he just doesn't want her.

Forty-two and clueless, Charlotte is a fish out of water in a dating pool teeming with losers. Just when she thinks she's finally put her failed marriage behind her, it comes back to bite her in the ass...hard. Without warning, Charlotte finds herself staring down the barrel of a future she wouldn't (she would totally) wish on her worst enemy.

Engaging, fearless, and relentlessly funny, Pretty Much Screwed is a story of love, loss, friendship, forgiveness, turtledoves, taxidermy, and one hilariously ill-placed tick.

Never look back...or go back

Would you listen to Pretty Much Screwed again? Why?

No. I think it is a one time through type of book. It's pretty predictable but a cute story.

What other book might you compare Pretty Much Screwed to and why?

It's the typical divorcee has trouble letting go of a past life, no matter how much better the option in front of her is.

What three words best describe Tanya Eby’s voice?

Not a Frenchman

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was cute...no extreme reaction

Any additional comments?

The narrator was fine for the main 2 women, Charlotte and Lizzie but Katie and a couple of the others were odd.

Heroine you Hate to Love

What did you love best about Pretty Much Screwed?

I actually really loved the story line, although I wouldn't necessarily say it is something that I could picture happening in real life.

If you could take any character from Pretty Much Screwed out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would love for Jessie to make me dinner. He sounds like such an amazing guy. However, he sounded too perfect.

Any additional comments?

I kept finding myself screaming at my radio because I was so irritated with Charlotte. I really felt like she kept wanting to play the victim, even though I thought she was wrong most of the time. I recounted some of this to my fiance (who doesn't care about my books) and he honestly thought I was talking about someone real- I got that into being frustrated with Charlotte.

Meh

Nothing exceptional. I figured out a main plot point in the first few chapters but hoped I was wrong. Wasn't. Characters aren't really exceptional

Charlotte makes you want to pull your hair out

There were conversations in the book that I found myself relating to and moments that I did enjoy the story line but Charlotte made so many bad decisions that I found myself not wanting to finish the book because I was afraid of what she would do next.

If there is a guy like Jesse in real-life, please send him my way.

I enjoyed it. Most of the time

I really liked this book but some parts drag a little. The audio voice was good so that kept me in it and most of the time I had a great time listening to it. I will recommend it to my friends saying the same things I have written here. Just bare with the parts that are slow.

Stupidest plot and heroine ever

First, great performance by Tanya Eby. However, it did not make up for the incredibly stupid main character. I kept waiting for her to have to pay for her mistakes and stupidity, but it had the happiest ending ever. Maybe if your life is as shallow as these characters, that is how it works out. But dang. Get a grip on reality.

My husband and I listen together!!!

My husband never ever listens to my audiobooks. Sometimes he hears a minute or two of something and moves on with his day. But this one... we were looking forward to listening every night.

We laughed so much and found different friends to compare them with the characters of the story.
This book could totally be a sitcom!

Love it!

This book was funny and a story many 40 something year old women can relate to.
