About this listen

Danice Carter is not one for glass slippers. A stilettos-wearing lawyer at one of Manhattan’s most elite establishments, Danice has a very strong grip on reality. So when she’s asked by one the firm’s founding partners to take on a personal case, Danice knows she’s in for the opportunity of a lifetime. All she has to do is convince her top boss’s granddaughter, Rosemary, to file a paternity suit. Sounds simple enough…until Danice arrives at Rosemary’s home and is pounced on by a handsome stranger.

Private investigator McIntyre Callahan’s was only following his powerful client’s orders: Find Rosemary—at all costs. Instead, he’s found a super-hot lawyer prowling around looking for answers he can’t give. The half-human, half-Fae Mac tries to warn Danice that she’s way in over her head—that Rosemary may roam among The Others, and may have dangerous ties to the Unseelie Court—but she won’t be deterred. Even if that means following Mac to the ends of the earth to find Rosemary, or surrendering to his supernatural powers of temptation… until death do they part.

Interracial lady attorney joins up with interspecies Fae private detective to track down a grown brat who finds herself lost in a world she doesn't believe exists. Interesting and fun, sometimes a trifle scary, but generally a good read for escape.

Kate Reading is always great!

I realize that all these stories have to contain female empowerment, but the main female character in this one takes the "I ain't going to listen to no man tell me what to do" to the height of stupidity, while supposedly being a highly educated lawyer. Small spoiler, the female decides that she absolutely must go to Fae land because of plot, and eventually argues to agreement to accompany the male character. Now, even thought she knows nothing of the land or customs (and is chastised by the more knowledgeable male on several occasions as to the dangers of insulting Fae culture) she has a complete inability to keep her mouth shut. She instead acts like a poster child for Tourette syndrome. Their lives were literally in danger with people pointing weapons at them, and she didn't have sense enough to just shut the f**k up. I guess it was good for plot, except that no well practised lawyer, not even a native new yorker, would have been that cringe worthy stupid.

Not as good as the first two.

Glad I bought it but this is one of the books that can be skipped. The description is all you need to know if you want to skip, but it was just ok.

This book was an interesting addition to the series, but I wish that more of the story included the building relationship between the two main characters. Kate Reading does an amazing job with the narratoriation. I normally do not enjoy books with one narrator, but she does a great job creating a voice for each character. She also has great comedic timing. I didn't have to use a credit for this book because it was apart of the Escape Package.

Needed More Romance

I got 3/4 the way thru and quit. The storyline is good but there’s very little of it and instead a whole lot of inner turmoil with the characters that just wasn’t enjoyable for me.

Had to quit

This book may be better read than listened to. I don't care for the narration, something with the timing in places. I can't get interested in the characters.

Better to read
