About this listen

Unsolvable cases

Since former Marine Jack Morgan started Private, it has become the world's most effective investigation firm--sought out by the famous and the powerful to discreetly handle their most intimate problems. Private's investigators are the smartest, the fastest, and the most technologically advanced in the world--and they always uncover the truth.

Impossible murders

When his former lover is found murdered in Jack Morgan's bed, he is instantly the number one suspect. While Jack is under police investigation, the mob strong-arms him into recovering $30 million in stolen pharmaceuticals for them. And the beautiful manager of a luxury hotel chain persuades him to quietly investigate a string of murders at her properties.

The #1 suspect is Jack Morgan

While Jack is fighting for his life, one of his most trusted colleagues threatens to leave Private, and Jack realizes he is confronting the cleverest and most powerful enemies ever. With more action, more intrigue, and more twists than ever before, Private: #1 Suspect is James Patterson at his unstoppable best.

Very Good! Glad I bought this one too.

Ok, well I am still hopeful. This audiobook was really good and I am glad I bought it. I was a little worried after the last one I listened to because previous to that last one I had stated in my reviews that Patterson's books were not formulaic then the last one - not this one - did feel formulaic so I wasn't sure what to expect moving forward. I'm hoping that the remaining books will keep me as pleased as every one (except the one) has so far. By the way, I thought I had listened to them in order then realized that I had not and it really made no difference - either way works.

Great Book 2!

What made the experience of listening to Private: #1 Suspect the most enjoyable?

I bought to listen in my car during my commute to and from work. It made my long commute tolerable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jack Morgan. Even with his success and money, he still has morals. He is a very likable guy even with some of his flaws.

What does Scott Shepherd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He made the book more enjoyable, as if I'm actually watching the story instead of just listening to it.

Any additional comments?

The only critique I have is the book seemed to have ended abruptly. Maybe there's another book in store but I wished there were more follow up to Jack's and Justine's relationship. They really complement one another...and I'm a sucker for happy endings.

Awful - Not Patterson's Best

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No I would not. I will buy the book and read it. The narrator is awful!

Would you recommend Private: #1 Suspect to your friends? Why or why not?

Book only!

What aspect of Scott Shepherd’s performance would you have changed?

He is trying to put in a New York accent by the sounds of it and sound like a tough mobster and doing both poorly.

Another Twister

Another multi-plot/case twist and turn. Our hero runs three cases and two women at once. Hard to imagine, but it's fiction and a fun listen.

Stories I too short

Seven hours 22 minutes just doesn't make it. I like books that last at least 10 hours.
