Publisher's summary

New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy returns to the glittering Lancaster world with the story of a damaged woman who gets her chance to redeem herself with the one man who’s been in love with her forever …

Spencer Donato.

My brother’s best friend.

My dirty little secret.

We fell for each other at Lancaster Prep. Sneaking around. Not wanting anyone to find out. He was my first love, my protector, my knight in shining armor. We were made for each other, and I truly believed he was my forever.

But then I did the unthinkable, and betrayed him in the worst possible way. I thought I lost him for good …

Until I saw him at my brother’s wedding. Now he’s older. Crueler. Unbearably handsome. We’re drawn to each other still, but will Spencer be there for me when I need him the most? Or did I ruin us once again?

The first book was better

I said what I said. The first book was better and I felt the ending came too quick.

Great beginning, weak ending

The first half of the book was extremely interesting and kept me inthralled, but the end was so odd and didn’t make a lot of sense to me. There should have been more of spicy drama between Sylvie and Spence and less of Sylvies odd indecisiveness.
Could have been great but was just okay.

Loved Sophie and Spencer

This was maybe my favorite in the series. Loved the storyline and the love they share.

Best one so far!

I’m surprised by the reviews. I started listening to the first book a few days ago and have been binging the rest of the series since, and this is my favorite story so far. All of them are good, but I was captivated with this story immediately. Plus the narrators are both great. The female narrator has a good flow and does a decent male voice, and the male narrator sounds very natural. His female voice on the other hand sounds exactly like a man trying to imitate a woman, however his voice in the spicy parts are HOT AF. There was a part of the book when Spencer was just angry or something and exclaimed the f word, and even then I was shook, I couldn’t help myself from squealing in public. Good stuff!

Best of them so far

“No more broken promises between us, Syl. When we talk, we mean what we say.”

“You say you love me again and I’m never going to let you go. It doesn’t matter what happens. I’m by your side until the day I die.”

When I first started this one I was trying to figure out who the characters were and then it clicked, once it did the book got much more interesting to me because it was Sylvi and Spencer. This is probably one of the best second chance romance/brothers best friend that I have read in a while. I liked how Monica took you back through their memories to when they first met at 14 and 15 years old. Their story made so much more sense in how they interacted in the first book.
Sylvi is that poor little rich girl but with some real issues, you think from the first book that she was just a little crazy and making a bunch of stuff up and basically fascinated with death. Turns out she wasn't but she never really told anyone the truth about what her mother was really doing to her. Spencer never stopped loving her even though she married someone else, he tried to convince himself that he didn't care about her but it took her running away and Wit asking for his help to look for her for all the truths to come out and for their second chance to really begin.
I also like that the other Lancasters from book 1 and 2 have been incorporated in this story, I don't know if it says it is a stand alone, but I feel you need to at the very least read book 1 in order to get a full understanding of what the main characters are going through in book 3. Spencer is definitely the man every woman would want in her corner.

The twists and turns

This book kept me on my toes!!! I loved it was sweet and careful but harsh and truthful! This book PERFECT portrays the work of a narcissist, however, the healing process could use a little work, it was almost certainly a good read!

Connection not as strong

I liked this book just fine, I don't catch myself thinking about it like the other books. But yeah it just didn't give what I needed they both have dangerous pasts and crazy sh!t in their lives and I don't feel like it was utilized it much as it could have been. Just kinda eh.

I'm glad we got to see more of Sylvias past and explain why she is the way she is but yeah just eh.
