About this listen

A cat cafe. Murder. Who is the killer?

Lauren Crenshaw and her Norwegian Forest Cat Annie run their own certified cat cafe in the picturesque small town of Gold Leaf Valley, Northern California. Lauren's fun cousin Zoe helps out as well.

Lauren, Annie, and Zoe are shocked when one of their favorite customers is poisoned. Steve came into the cafe nearly every day - but who wanted him dead?

The trio find themselves suspecting their customers - even elderly Mrs. Finch, whom Lauren thinks of as a substitute grandmother, doesn't escape their scrutiny.

The new (and attractive!) police detective warns them off the case. But Annie, the Norwegian Forest Cat, seems to have a nose for sniffing out trouble.

Can Lauren, Annie, and Zoe catch the killer before the killer catches them?

Good situation in cat café with cousins who are friends. Good cat behaviors and considerate care of the cat.

Great cat character. Annoying how main characters suspect their friend and ignore clues dropped by the bad character. Unconscious ageism. Repeating “old, senior, elderly”... Older people have less generic qualities. Better descriptions could be associations with historical knowledge, or specific health adjustments.

Short story

G rated mini mystery. Suitable for a youngster. Enjoyed Annie the Cat. Predictable & lame ending for an adult.

Predictable fluff

Light cozy, not much investigating, lots of chatter, knitting, suspicions, romantic interest that’s a cop 🙄 and a cat.

Simplistic Light Listening

This little story was okay for what it was. Nothing complex here, and very easy listening. Somewhat charming, even. It did keep my attention all the way through, so I guess that says something…☺️

Book Is Too Short

I enjoyed the storyline and the narrator was great. Unfortunately, I will not buy another one in this series because they are too short. I do not spend $9.79 on any book shorter than 6 hours. I accidentally bought this book without looking at the length as I was hurrying to the car for my commute. It is a shame because I did enjoy it. Maybe Audible could bundle them.

More than a little predictable

Let me begin by saying the book was slow to get the mystery started. The narrator was good. the ending was predictable and some of the side stories were boring. The book is best suited for a new mystery reader.

Amusing

Adorable kitty antics, simple storyline but fun! Annie is definitely the most unusual and talented cat ever!!

Purrs and Peril

As an owner of a Norwegian Forest Cat I could not resist this book. And what a great surprise it was. Will be looking forward to another story.

A Hallmark Mystery in Book form

A clean, predictable cozy mystery. Nothing too violent, no sec scenes, and no swearing. Main characters are sweet. I disliked the readers purrs as very unrealistic and she never changed the type or tone of the pathetic purr she gives Annie. A real shame as it could’ve been a cat lover’s delight if she more accurately conveyed Annie’s purrs. The writer clearly loves food and this carries really nicely into the story. A short easy listen, not overly fantastic but not too boring. Perfect for distracting myself while I potter about.
