A Marathon Read!

For those of us who follow the works of Tom Clancy, there would be little surprise in the sheer length of this Book!
I have read criticism of Michael Pritchard's reading style from other Reviewers and after such a long reading I must also say that his voice is probably less suited to such long readings.
At times, I did feel that the detail that Clancy goes into, became just a little tedious!
Normally, I enjoy his expanded descriptions but I think Pritchard's somewhat gravelly voice did get to me on a couple of my longer Drives/Listens.
Overall though, I enjoyed the Book and would therefore recommend it! One thing you can always say about Clancy's Novels is that you get your money's worth!

Enjoyable

This was a fun listen. Clancy belabors some of the character perspectives to gain the odd "eye roll" from me, but overall a pretty fun book. The slang is something near to Ozzy and Harriet meet the Mod Squad, and not anything like people talk today; and the narrator is really choppy and boring. Overall, worth the four stars, but I will try another Clancy book to see if I can give 5 stars.

Very long but really worth it!

The formation of Rainbow Six sure made me think. Here again there is a group to take the place of the FBI and CIA. Better yet they. Could work around a lot of legalities. The way it ended was a real feel good climax. Listen to this all the way and you won't regret it.

Rainbow

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, the story is awesome.

What did you like best about this story?

The story line and the notice the true depths of what a good biological lab can do.

Have you listened to any of Michael Prichard’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. It was good, but he failed in the play of accents amongst the characters. That would have brought rmore life characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No.

Any additional comments?

Life in the military is not easy, and there is the at of hitting back by the other side.

Best Clancy Novel

I think Rainbow Six is the best Clancy novel. Full of action and never a dull moment. I have to admit that Rainbow Six was the first Clancy novel I had ever read. It's what made me decide to go back and start with the first book Hunt for Red October. I've made it all the way through the series up to Rainbow again. Can't wait to see what's next.

Classic Clancy

First half is action packed and second half slows down almost too much but really develops characters and overall plot. Cynical bad guys and over-machismo good guys with a bit of political incorrectness make for a good read/listen if you are into military tech thrillers.

Considerably better audio and narration

Considerably better audio and narration than Without Remorse. Prichard's narriation is far less robotic and monotonous in the second book in the John Clark series.

Fun thriller, but chock full of filler

I had a good time listening to this book and following along as the plot starts piecing itself together. Clancy is a master at visualizing military characters and making even mundane agent work exciting. However, there's a lot of filler, including metaphors being repeated so many times I'm pretty sure it's just copy pasted. Also, in our post 9-11 works, I assume most people have heard this story 3 times over already.

Very good book

This book is just as good the second time around as it was the first time.
