About this listen

Too many entrepreneurs, particularly mission-driven ones, try to avoid raising capital, assuming that they can't offer the kind of returns they think investors demand. Or they're worried that investors will end up taking control of the business. But an underfinanced business is a nightmare for the entrepreneur, and a major reason new businesses fail. Jenny Kassan shows how anyone can build capital without relying on traditional methods.

Based on over 10 years working with small businesses, Kassan says the landscape of investment capital is far larger and more diverse than many would have you believe. Venture capitalists looking for a tenfold return on their investment are a tiny minority, and many investors are just as mission-driven as entrepreneurs. Kassan takes listeners through a six-step process to create a customized capital-raising plan, one that inspires them, excites them, and is in complete agreement with their business, their values, and their lives. This audiobook will help as many people as possible turn their big, bold, world-changing visions into reality.

MUST HAVE for Mission-Driven Entrepreneurs

If you could sum up Raise Capital on Your Own Terms in three words, what would they be?

Inspiring, Necessary, Comprehensive

What other book might you compare Raise Capital on Your Own Terms to and why?

This book stands alone. I've gone down many avenues in fundraising for my various businesses over the past several years, with varying levels of success. When I found out Jenny was writing this book, I started anxiously waiting, as there's nothing out there quite like it. After listening to it, I can say it was well worth the wait.

What does Natalie Hoyt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Narrated in a very easy to follow and digest manner. Personally, I listened to 15-30 minute clips at a time while in the car on the first pass, and have been listening to specific sections since then to craft our actual fundraising gameplan.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

What every mission-driven entrepreneur should watch to thrive!

Any additional comments?

We are about to do a major fundraise for our grassroots corporation. We are already using Jenny's book as a major piece in developing our strategy. Jenny answers so many questions regarding how to fundraise without compromising your values.

What I love most is that everything is presented in a manner that helps YOU find the best strategies for YOU.

She also does a great job of helping you get into the right mindset (such an important part of this process!) I'm having my whole team read/listen to help us all get on the same page in our efforts. If every grassroots entrepreneur in America were to read this book, what an amazing world we could all create together!
