About this listen

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes a steamy romance about what happens when a risk-taker tries to follow the rules.

Jade has always been the reckless type. But after her relationship implodes and her business goes under, she realizes it might be time to change her ways. She decides on a fresh start in a new place: Montana.

But shortly after her arrival in Big Sky Country, she meets headstrong wilderness retreat owner Maverick, whose name, fittingly, means “dissenter.” Jade tries to convince herself he’s not the type of man she needs in her life. The problem is, she wants him in her life. She wants him more than anything.

For Maverick, his attraction to this out-of-towner is undeniable. But he’s sworn off relationships—until he gets to know the fiery-haired, fiery-tempered Jade. He can’t help but wonder if it’s worth opening himself up to her. It’s a gamble, sure. But is it reckless?

Or is love a high-stakes game of risk and reward that just might pay off in the end?

Great story

Loved this last story of the series, Maverick and Jade made a great couple. Loved that they were able to hold on to their love and have a forever after ending. The whole group of friends made this a great read. I appreciate Aurora Rose Reynolds books, keep them coming.

Meh

This was not my favorite by ARR. Sadly, even Aaron Shedlock couldn’t save this audiobook in my opinion.

This review contains some spoilers.

The hero and heroine both have some emotional baggage. I liked how their relationship developed, even though I don’t understand why it was a “secret.” Then they have a serious discussion about their future and things took a turn. The hero didn’t want to get married and have kids, so the heroine broke up with him. This all happened within minutes. Then a few days later the hero crashes a big event of the heroine’s and apologizes. She forgives him on the spot. No grovel. No upset for him the interruption of her event. Then fast forward to epilogues. Bam-engaged. Bam-surprise wedding. Bam-heroine is a surrogate for her friend… what?

This book did not leave with the warm, happy feelings I am used to with ARR books. This book just left me disappointed and a bit confused.

Drama and humor

The was a pretty good book; it had the type of drama that made me laugh out loud. I love Aaron’s deep raspy voice (swooning). Both narrators did a great job with characters. A great small town love story.

The last of the ‘Adventure guys’

This is the last of the ‘Adventure’ guys to get his HEA. Mav is a great friend, business partner and uncle…and he intends to keep it that way! No relationships in Mav’s future! When Jade’s love life and business implodes, she takes up stakes and moves to be with her best friend and husband…and intends to get her life back on track. Mav and Jade did not plan on a fling, but that’s what happens. When hearts get involved, can Jade convince Mav that an HEA is not a bad thing? Great wrap to this series!

Meh

Sweet, slow and predictable story. Not thrilled MFC starts out scrappy but caves towards the end. Performances are great, which kept me listening. Not a very satisfying book for burning a credit IMO.

Loved this sweet small town romance

🎧🎧Book/ audio review 🎧🎧
Reckless is the third book in the Adventures in Love book 3, but can be read as a standalone. This small town romance was sweet, low angst, and a good comfort read. Dallas and Maverick have intense chemistry, and banter off the bat. We see them both struggle with trust, commitment, insecurities and family trauma issues preventing either of them having any meaningful relationships in the past. What started as a no strings attached, secret relationship quickly turned into something more. They slowly started to let their walls down and try to make things work. They had some hurdles along the way but they were able to over come them and find their HEA. Sweet read. The narrators Laurie West and Aaron Shedlock did a great job with character switches and made this story easy to listen to.

Like!!

I really liked this story and how it was low fictitious drama... however, there was this one tiny bit of minor nonsensical drama with Maverick's silly resistance to relationships... but nothing too detracting.

Overall the story was the same 'girl starting over' sorry, but the writing is good and ARR's telling of this common troupe kept my attention, and provided a few swoon worthy moments. Definitely worth the time.

The narration was good, but I would have liked it better if the chapters would have been read in dual narration...Just a personal preference.
