About this listen

New rule: Stop chasing unavailable women! Women just like my new TA....

Heath Taylor. Laid-back. Easygoing. Fastest guy on two skates and chill to a fault, at least that’s what they say. Until Kara.

Three nights together and I’m done for. Her laugh, her smile, the way my hand curves around her waist. She’s the one. Not a doubt in my mind...until I walk into my last class of the semester.

Kara, the woman of my dreams, is my new instructor. My hockey season and her career prospects are on the line. One false move - if anyone finds out - we’re both sunk.

On the ice I’m a beast who can’t be stopped, but thoughts of her are throwing me off my game. My fingers itch to feel her in my arms again. But risking everything could ruin what we’ve worked so hard for.

Life has a way of changing the best-laid plans. And sometimes you can’t stay away no matter the promises you make....

Loved, Loved, Loved 🥰

Waited very patiently for the next book in this series! Hughes’ writing just draws you in right from page one. The connection between all of the Rittenhouse Kings is addicting and to see Heath meet his match with Kara, the heartbreaking events I seriously jumped into the rest of this series. While I love to read, Audiobooks just work out better for my schedule but I just couldn’t wait! Lucy and Teddy are just amazing as always!

Amazing story!

What an emotional hockey romance by Maya Hughes! I absolutely fell in love with Teddy Hamilton and Lucy Rivers as Heath and Kara. These two strong-willed people are perfect for each other but it is just not in the cards for them until tragedy brings them back together. I have to say I was in tears listening to this story. What a fantastic story!

Prepare For A Major Case Of All The Feels

I loved Heath and Kara's story. The chemistry and connection between these two was sizzling and undeniable. These were complex and lovable characters. Each of them has their own baggage that weighs heavily into who they are and who they are trying to become. Heath was simply beyond swoon worthy. This totally unique book boyfriend easily sneaked into my heart and took up residence. Kara was a wonderful heroine. I admired her strength and determination. My heart ached for them both as their pasts were painful. The enjoyed the forbidden angle of this story as this is a trope that I love. You can look forward to a well written and engaging story line that offers up plenty of emotions, turmoil, drama, angst, heartache, steam and romance.

Heath and Kara are PERFECTION!

Maya Hughes’ books just keep getting better and better. All of her characters draw me into the story and make my heart sing. Reckless King is no exception.

I will admit that I wasn’t as excited about Heath’s story because I really wanted Emmett and Avery’s story. I didn’t think I would connect to Heath, but Maya showed me how wrong I was. Heath was to die for! There was so much below the surface that I could never have guessed. He tries so hard to be the peacemaker while underneath there is so much anger and guilt. He broke my heart and I just wanted to hug him.

Kara was perfect for Heath. She had her own struggles and tragic backstory. She was more concerned with being perfect for others than being happy, but Heath helped her take control of her life and go after what she really wanted.

The chemistry between these two was lava hot. They burned up the pages, but what was really beautiful was how they supported one another. I was rooting for these two broken souls’ happily ever after.

This book had EVERYTHING! Smoking hot sexy characters who made me laugh, cry, broke my heart and then put it back together again!!

The narration by Lucy Rivers and Teddy Hamilton was spot on. They brought Heath and Kara to life for me. I love how Teddy Hamilton makes you feel every emotion of the character with his voice. This was the first audio book that I have listened to with Lucy Rivers as a narrator and she was awesome. I highly recommend the audiobook. I couldn’t stop listening until I finished. It was that good!

The one you want is the one you can’t have

How is it possible the perfect one for you is the one you can’t have. Heath has been down that road before and he won’t do it again. He and Kara agree that there is too much at stake to risk what could be. I loved this book and narration. The narrators have a way to pour so much emotion into the words I might have had tears in my eyes at some points. The friendships that this book holds are so strong and good that I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Sweet, fun and emotoinal

I just loved listening to Reckless King by Maya Hughes. A forbidden romance brought to life by Teddy Hamilton and Lucy Rivers. Heath and Kara spend a few amazing days together. Heath wants more, but when she steps into his class as his teacher, there is no chance for them, right? Heath was such a likeable guy who is easy-going and sweet. Kara is smart and beautiful. Their chemistry is amazing and undeniable. I loved their journey so much and can’t wait to see what comes next!

Happy Listening!

Reckless he is not

Heath got a bad rap. The shameless flirt isn't actually as bad as his friends made him out to be. I enjoyed his path to growing up even if it was turbulent and hurt. Heath is a deep guy and though his California surfer dude habits are hard not to smirk at, he is an incredible guy.

She's a lucky lady...if she can get past her walls and his.

Reckless King had me swooning, sighing, and trying not to sob. Maya Hughes gave Heath a tumultuous path and I love him more for it.

As a Teddy Hamilton fan, I was in my glory. Lucy Rivera is new to me but her voice is intriguing and sexy. I found the combination perfect.

Reckless King

Ok, I will admit that going into this book I was curious about Heath, but his was not the book I was looking forward to the most. However, I should have known I would love any hero Maya Hughes creates.

Heath and Kara connected quickly the night they met and after just a few nights together things seemed to be going great. The mutual attraction was there, but I thought it was nice, too, that they opened up about their pasts and Kara about her journal writing. Things get complicated when Kara turns out to be a TA for Heath's class. I ended up really liking both Heath and Kara. They fit together so well and were just what the other needed.

Of course, there are appearances by the other Kings of Rittenhouse and other favorite characters. I love when a series has secondary characters who matter and add a lot to the story. Maya Hughes does a wonderful job of creating characters and hinting at what's to come for them in future books.

I am glad I listened to this book on audio! The narration was fantastic and Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite narrators. This is the first time I've listened to Lucy Rivers and I thought she was perfect for Kara! They did. wonderful job bringing the book to life.

Heath and Kara's story can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading them in order. It's the best way to see the overarching plot and to see all the connections between characters.
