Publisher's summary

Reflections of Darkness is a horror anthology composed of four terrifying tales that culminate in the question, "If you could kill one person, who would it be and how would you do it?"

The four stories included in the book are:

  • "Gore Orphanage": Fifty years following a heartless crime, the most malicious ghost to ever haunt America seeks retribution and will not stop until every trespasser is dead, innocent or not.
  • "Click, Clack": An evil gun lurks through life. Whoever possesses it, the gun in turn possesses, and tragedy occurs.
  • "The Devil's Mirror": A young man down on his luck strikes a deal with the Devil to become a hip-hop star.
  • "Face Your Fears": The new face of terror is your own.

Good Read

I was given a free code for this audiobook from the author. The main story was VERY!! GOOD!! it had a good plot and the charters held my attention. I did not care so much for the short stories that are toward the end of the book but that may be because I really do not like short sci-fi. For me Sci-Fi stories have to have good charter devolvement and enough time to allow the story to unfold and I have not as of yet found that in short sci-fi stories. I would like to hear more full length audiobooks from this author in the future and would recommend this audiobook to others that enjoy this type of material based on the main story.

I enjoyed it!

I believe I’ve listened to at least one other book narrated by Ryan Hicks and both times I was unsure wether or not I’d want him as the narrator, but I cannot deny that he is skilled and the more I listen he actually comes off as the right choice for narrating after all. So if you’re reading this review Mr. Hicks, you do good work even if my first reaction might be “meh” you end up surprising me.

First off, this book is written as 3 short stories with different people and different places but they start connecting in what I would only call a bold move by author. All stories are horror themed and I got the chills a few times, I’m not easily scared so this was surprising to me. Personally I feel there were some logic flaws at parts, but overall I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone wanting some light horror. If the author publishes more books in the future he has peaked my interest by what I have been reading until now.
